Lightbulb Building a vintage game simluator need good sounds

Hey fellow pachees, how is everyone doing? I would like to announce I have a functioning game simulator of a mixed vintage machine. Currently has a center feature with spinning "Tri" goal gate, two types of functioning tulips and a counter gate for another tulip that opens on 6 passes. It also has animated payout lights and I've just finished doing a second set of lights for when you get the center feature goal. I currently have fraps, and it only records games for some reason. Let me know of a decent free screen capture program and I'll record a demo. I am building this proto-type in blender 2.65 which is a freely available program. I need sound recordings of the payout bells and a couple one shot recordings. You know just one ball at a time so I can get some various sounds of it launching and collisions of the nails as well as the sound of just the lever being pulled back and released. For some reason I can't press enter on this post. It no workie, but I tested it in wordpad and muh button works. Still needs a lot of work but is moving along well. I would really like to do a hanemono or arrangeball, that would be cool. Why can I not hit Enter?? pictures->Pachinko Sim.jpgPachinko Sim Backshot.jpgPachinko Sim Close.jpgPachinko Sim In-Sim.jpg

Looks like your off to a good start. Which operating system are you making it for? Or have you decided yet?

I have a payout sound recorded. It is a single payout from a Nishijin Model A. (I always loved the sound of the model A best) Only reason why I already have it is because I set it as the notification sound for my phone.

Hey mxfaiman, thanks! Got it clipped and in-game. It sounds pretty good, really. I could give you a link to a download if you'd like to see if it will work. Only thing is, I sent it to 2 buddies of mine and they reported back stating it would not fire nor animate on their machines. They have Raedon graphics cards so I'm not sure. I'm using an Nvidia machine, even tested the runtime and everything was working before I hosted it. I suppose it is true that computers hate us XD Additionally anyone else could beta test it just be aware of this problem! Send me a PM if you are down to beta. I would preferably like to test on an Nvidia graphics system though i'm not exactly sure if that is the problem.

Good news, brother tested it out on a machine with an Nvidia card and she works! Updated build available at mediafire. Figured out how to emulate the spinners though they are a little buggy. A & D rotate camera. Still has some bugs with the hut dropper but all the paths at present work. The .exe is named "Pachinko SavedWORKING16" in "PV Game Alpha" folder. Requires WinRAR for extraction. No installation required. Unpack, go into PV Alpha folder, run "Pachinko SavedWORKING16". May take a little time to load, have not made the start or load screens yet. Version uses mxfaiman's payout sound. Link: PV Game Alpha.rar

Extract (stuff is already packed into a folder) WINRAR used

Run the .exe within the "PV Game Alpha" folder after extracting.

Takes a second for it to load.
    Updated Render VP.jpg

    Download link: PV Game Alpha.rar

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    A & D rotate camera.

Power depends on how long [Spacebar] is held down.

Shot fires on release of spacebar.

Try to hit the various pocket

Scoring on the spinning center feature gate gives a full "chiptune" song. This also will open the bottom most tulip gate.

Scoring on the RIGHT pocket gives 1/4 of the song.

RIGHT pocket can be scored on while closed (it is a traditional angled gate)

LEFT pocket pays out and adds to a count to open the Bottom most tulip after 6 passes. (score 6 times and open the bottom tulip)

    PAYOUT:

    -Scoring system in place.
    -LEFT Pocket pays 3
    -RIGHT Pocket pays 7
-Center feature & BOTTOM Pocket pay 15 each.
-6 LEFT pocket goals or 1 Center Feature goal to open the bottom gate.

    PROGRESS:

*Spinners are now emulated more realistically but tend to spin randomly at times (bug).

*Working on optimizing by reducing unnecessary faces.

*Lots of new features like better chrome.

    *Basic camera rotation.

*Lighting adjustments and added shadowing effects.

*Refined and smoothed design processes for less faces. (some pieces were redone)

    *Spinning decals on the spinners.

    *3D emitted and EQed Sound.

    *Semi-realistic 8bit short music patterns.

    *Better ball bounce!

*Refined tray and added simulated "pre-loader" device with window and animated hammer.

    *More "tuned" launching feel.

*Ball return detection. (re-adds to score or "tray")

*Working on launch path (little weird sometimes).

*Working on adding more sounds and light animations.

*Researching information on implementing XBOX controller or joystick for shooting. (finer power variable)

    *DEBUG info on another release.

*Scoring system in place, working on actually displaying the score.

*Simulation of a vintage pachinko mixed with a little hanemono (hanemono is an older type of pachinko with "wings", very cool machines)

    INFO:

Original "Chiptune" music/clips made by myself (and its a good chiptune! XD )

Payout "bell" sound provided by mxfairman on pachitalk forum.

    Alpha Test it.

I'm not sure if others are having trouble with it, but I can't find an .exe file in there. Though looking at it because I have blender installed on my computer might be causing the issue.

Here is a screen shot of the files I saw and I did look under the 2.65 folder as well.
    pachi game.jpg

I did click the one that works through blender but when it opens there are a lot of errors. Like the shooter handle is gone, I can't see balls being fired (just the shadows of the balls), The payout does work and it did make sound.

Here is a screen shot of the application open. (note you can see the shadow of the ball between the left & center pocket)

    pachi game 2.jpg

Oh and for those who need a WinRAR I think you should be able to download one here. (Someone already installed one for me so I don't know how that site works)

Oh wow, it looks like everything that is chrome is faded!. Hmmm maybe its the "toon" shader. You clicked on the right one. It is the application. That screenshot provides some much needed information mxfaiman thanks!

The lever handrest is a material I used called "fixture metal" while the rest uses a chrome material I've developed called "big chrome". What are your specs mxfaiman? AMD/Raedon card or NVidia? My brother and I are using Nvidia cards and it

renders properly for myself as well as for him. If the problem persists on AMD/Raedon systems I could make a pack just that replacing "big chrome" with another material that will render.

    Thanks!

I have exported 2 new versions. One for AMD/Raedon and one for Nvidia. mxfaiman, try using the "v0.8a Raedon" version. I changed the chrome material over to a type that WAS displaying on your screenshot. Same with the nails and "Shot". They are some of the same shaders used for rendering the shooter tray, which did render in your case so this might work! If you look in device manager you should be able to see if you have a Raedon or Nvidia based GPU, be it integrated or dedicated. I could use that info since my brothers machine has a GTX660 (Nvidia | Game Worked) while the other two testers had Raedon based cards (both claimed the "shot" was not appearing and the lever was not moving, some features however, did show up)

    Raedon Version:
    VPS v0.8a Game Alpha Raedon.rar

The .exe is: VP Simulator v0.8a-Raedon

    Nvidia Version:
    VPS v0.8a Game Alpha Nvidia.rar

The .exe is: VP Simulator v0.8a-Nvidia

Still have the problem of not seeing the ball. But I can now see the ball track, though the finger post did disappear.

I don't think so directly. I'm sure there is a way the files can be converted though. (But probably isn't the easiest)

New .01 verson updates. Tested Raedon v0.80, still was not rendering chrome material. Re-applied, new links.

    For mac, maybe bootcamp?

Smartphones? Probably only ones designed for gaming.

New versions include a scorekeeper and adjustments to the bottom tulip.

Ball returns add 1 to score. Pockets pay/add accordingly. Visual and dynamic text!

(No information returned, designed for compatibility or rendering problems)

Even newer Raedon version using the most basic chrome-ish mat I could come up.

It is a little slow but that might be part of my system. (also have to hold down the space bar a while to get the ball onto the playfield)
