This is the pdf file from Musky. If you print it with no page scaling, it seems to be a great fit to the GAKU counter.

Ah, I tried but the pdf file size was too large. If I can reduce them I'll post tomorrow!

Does anyone know the attachment file size limit for pdf's or zip files? - Thanks

Maybe A kind hearted Mod or Sid could post them in a sticky! They are good info on the Gaku PachiCounters.

Smile GAKU Counter Face Plates PROTOTYPE

Here are some pictures of the prototype. The overall size is 20-1/4" wide by 6-3/4" high by 1" thick.
    Prototype assembled.jpg

The material used is 1" thick, clear acrylic for the housing. The actual pieces are being made from 1" thick birch and white oak plywood. The prototypes and finished parts are made with a CNC router. The plastic face (shown with tan protective paper film on) plate is made with a laser cutter.
Prototype Housing Front.jpg Prototype Housing Back.jpg

The material used for the insert was 1/2" thick, clear acrylic. The actual pieces are being made of 3/8" thick MDO board.
Prototype GAKU insert assembled front.jpg Prototype GAKU insert disassembled front.jpg Prototype GAKU insert back no face plate.jpg Prototype GAKU insert back with face plate.jpg

The screw snap caps are shown in chrome and in black.

The final version will now accomodate EITHER the "big button" or the one furnsihed with the original kit. "Big button" not included.

One can easily make and include a custom, card stock piece, using a pdf template, for a unique look to match a specific pachinko machine, a color or a theme.

Well, I have recently gotten one of Carl's counter plates. And I thought I'd share my thoughts and ideas for it.

First off the wood case for it is made of white oak ply and man it is nice stuff. It is as close as you'll get to the wood on the front of the machine. Carl does spend quite a lot of time getting each one CNC cut and man it comes out nice. There isn't much I will need to do to it other than sand some edges and make a support bar to help keep it upright. Then stain / paint it.

Also the acrylic insert is Laser cut and it is perfect in every way. My reset button fits in it nicely (hole is tad on the larger side but it still works). He also threw in some what appear to be laser cut spacers (still haven't figured out where they go so you might need to add that to your manual.) I also think it is great that Carl is also giving the buyer an option of the screw caps between black and chrome.

It also seems nice and easy to change out the graphics. I know Carl included the one I designed but I am planning on putting this on my Skabo Kids machine and it just doesn't fit. So I designed a new insert just for that machine. (still need to print it out. Probably will do it tomorrow.)

All in all it is a really nice setup and it seems like it will be fairly simple to install seeing I already did the hard part by installing the counter on the machine.

    Oh. Pictures!

051.jpg052.jpgGAKU Face Plate 1 with digits (skabo kids).jpg0548g.jpg

#1 everything that was included (minus the big red button. That is mine. )
    #2 backside of the case
#3 my graphic for my Skabo Kids machine.
#4 Skabo Kids playfield so you can see where I stole parts for the counter.

I just got two Gaku counters from Musky. I'd be interested in your cases when they are made available. Nice work...

    Thanks Max,

The spacers are for behind the GAKU's Fairfield Sensors... you don't need them...

I do like your artwork; just a few thoughts: would the text "TIME BALANCE" be more intuitive under the LEDs and have you allowed room for your big red button? You might want some red or maybe yellow snap caps?

Glad you are enjoying it and you are correct that installing the counter is more difficult than installing the face plate / housing.

That's saying a lot since installation is pretty much a breeze (at least on a vintage). On the early and later moderns with multiple payouts and a payout motor, I can imagine it would be a chore.

Another reason I love vintage machines. Although they are pretty complex mechanical devices, their operation is pretty basic.

There is another option for some of the more difficult machines like on my Newgin Lucky Boat of Seven. There is a terminal on some machines that sends a pulse back to the parlor for every 5 balls won. By setting up the counter to 5/1 and connecting the receiving side of the win senior to it you can get a close count. I'm sure I posted an example on here some place!!
