Default IGT Front Door Lock from Home Depot

My Spin Luck machine is really nice however, it had no front door key and the existing lock was partially drilled into

The housing bracket was bent from the force of whoever was drilling.

I was thinking I would mount a push button solenoid for an opener but the angle bracket strike plate running all the way up and down the inside prevented that from happening easily.

I started searching for cabinet locks online.

I was delighted when I was able find a $6 replacement at Home Depot and install it at home with basically just a hand drill and a hacksaw.

In order to make it work you'll need a few additional parts while your there:

All you need to do is create a coupler out of a section of the soft M6 machine screw to join the new lock casing with the existing extension shaft. The dimensions of the new home depot lock are already perfect for this.

Since I didn't want to take these cotter pins out again I am showing the two assembled next to the old casing

Cut a 3/4 threaded section off the nut and thread it into the new lock, with the key in it, when the key starts to move, back it off a bit and secure it with lock tight or crazy glue. The extension shaft hole is not threaded and is a bit larger so you will need to shim the remaining part of the screw with tape , then insert and C clamp end to end it if you have one. Drill it all the way through near the lock and from both sides to the center from the existing holes in the extension and insert cotter pins.

Now you have two keys for your new lock ! (and yes, I'll keep them separate)
