    Default Powerflash GAKU Counter Install

This is really stage two of my Powerflash project. I was able to get the machine running great and was able to install a "Cheat" switch to open the tulips with the press of the "Cheat" button.

Now, I am trying to install a Gaku Counter.

I completed assembling and test the counter. Now it is time to mount the sensors.

This morning I was able to get the "Shot" sensor mounted and it is working great!!!

Here are some pictures of the progress...

    image_1.jpgimage_2.jpgimage_3.jpgimage_4.jpgimage_5.jpg

I have tested the "Win" sensor and have an idea where I intend to mount it. I just need some time when I am not working to get it done.

Ok, I need some suggestions as to where to place the "Win" sensor.

One thought is shown in this picture however I am afraid that it will have trouble "seeing" the ball through the plastic.

    image.jpg

Another idea I have is to place it here to catch the ball as it is dropped to the reservoir.

    image_1.jpg

Here are a couple of other photos I took in case it helps with ideas...

I circled the first potential location as it was hard to see in my first image.

i think either is probably going to work for ya,, but the ball exit point would offer the most access and easy adjustment..

    not to make things worse..

what about puting it behine one of the covers and tracking the jackpot seesaw or up by the leif switch for the win light??? would foil tape on the little wire of the jackpot leif sensor move enought for ya?? lots of wood there for mounting to??

of course i have no clue what your sensor looks like

Got some options for you CS.

Sorry my PF isn't easy to get to so I used a normal model B that was.

    30.jpg027.jpg028.jpg030.jpg031.jpg

As you can see in the first pic I have possible areas circled in red. The first one would see the arm that triggers the jackpot I'm not sure how that would work but it is worth trying. Second place is looking at the chute the ball drops down, only problem is it might count twice when the arm goes back up. Last would be right behind the chute, you would need to make a spacer so it could see the ball drop out. I think the first and last choices are the best. My suggestion to you is to hook up the sensor and try different locations.

Hey! If this location works - it would be my forst choice. It seems like there is enough space because the sensor is thinner then the black plastic slides up above. This location would sense the win slightly before the see saw activated.

If the shot sensor is reliable, no worries, BUT... it's recommended to have it parallel to the ramp below...

I tried making it parallel but after many adjustments found this to be very reliable.

I found a place for the "Win" sensor that works well. In this picture I just have it temporarily mounted with double sided tape. I will need to make a bracket to mount it properly.

    temp placement.jpg

I have run into a weird problem. I am not sure how to explain. I noticed that sometimes when I press my "Cheat" button, my GAKU counter adds to the win score. This really does not make sense to me as nothing moves anywhere near near the sensor when the "Cheat" button is pressed and the "Cheat" button is not connected to the GAKU counter in anyway. Also, on a side note I have had the "Win" sensor connected to the GAKU counter for awhile and just laying off to the side. During this time I have not encountered this problem.

    Would love any suggestions.

I have some "cheat buttons" installed on some of my modern machines. When you push the "cheat button" it's just like you would of put a ball into the "Start Pocket", so the reels spin and you get payed how ever many balls the "Start Pocket" normally pays. (usually 4 balls on most of my machines).

I'am not familiar with older machines but I'am guessing if a ball goes into a tulip, you get payed some balls. So it's the same when you push your "Cheat Button". The machines thinks a ball when into the Tulip and is paying you.

not on a vintage machine.. not with the modification he made.. no ball is needed.. his cheet button just opens the tulips.. no payout is given...

Ok been working on this more, as the Super Bowl really isn't that exciting

I have a second GAKU counter, so I swapped it for the first and got the same results. I also noticed on occasion, pressing the Cheat button would also cause the counter to register a "shot ball".

Not knowing where to turn next, I plugged the machine and GAKU counter into a surge protector. Now it appears the problem with the cheat button registering a "Win" has stopped but it still registers a "shot" ball once in awhile. I am not much of an electrician. ?Is it possible I have some kind of feedback or surge issue?

I tried your suggestion and ran an extension cord to another outlet. It is working perfectly. Now I need to figure what is causing the feedback issue. I think I remember seeing a member's website that has a replacement transformer specifically for the Powerflash. I need to find out where I saw that and order one. I need to get this machine to 100% for phase 3.
