Default 1949 Oliver Wales 24 Winning Cups Allwin

After sitting in my foyer in an oversized shipping box for nearly three weeks now, I finally found some time to unbox the latest addition to my game room collection: My 1949 "24 Winning Cup" Allwin machine made by Oliver Wales & Company.

The seller had it listed on Craigslist in California, had lots of interest, but he lived way out in the boonies so nobody ever came out to look at the machine. He says he has owned it for nearly 40 years now and has always enjoyed playing it, but he is moving to a smaller home and no longer had room for it. He was thrilled to hear that I collected Allwin machines and would eventually restore it to near new condition again, so he sold it to me on the spot. Quite honestly, he was probably the nicest long distance Craigslist seller I have ever worked with.

The machine does play, however it will not pay out any rewards as it sits. The coin collection and payout chute is missing from the back, but I have a similar Allwin parts machine in the attic somewhere that I believe has the parts I need. Someone rigged a diversion chute so that all of the coins deposited in the machine would go straight to the cash box in the bottom of the machine.

The backflash (cell) is also cracked around the win cups from heat and age, but as we have found with Pachinko machines, cells can be made to order and replaced. The wood cabinet is in pretty good overall shape for the age, and the machine came with a key.

All in all, I am happy with my purchase. This is the oldest Allwin in my collection now, and also probably the biggest.

Glad to see that went to a good home. I contacted the seller asking for a pic of the back. He just said it was plain as soon as he said that I lost interest. Truthfully I wasn't that interested to start with. But it went to a good home and I'm sure you'll take care of it Jeff.

    Really nice find Jeff

No need to tell you that it would probably sell for 'an arm and a leg' on it's home turf

Excellent addition to your growing collection of English machines

That's cool looking! Jeff, when you get it all working right, I would love to see a video of it in action!
