Default Most failed hardest to find parts

I'm thinking of giving my router something to do. What are some of the most frequently broken but hardest to find parts?

Anything on any non- Nishijin machine, and then only if someone wants to give it up or someone can reproduce it.
Pachinko -Nishijin "C" Fishing Game & Hockey, Red Lions, CR Red Lions, Heiwa Double Wing, Takao Bruce Lee, SanseiR&D 777 Sevens Rock, Sankyo Wanted!, lots of other vintages!; Pachislo -SPIN LUCK, Kung Fu Lady, Gamera High Grade, Gundam

I've only really had 4 "must have" parts... 2 I found either in the US or from a parts guy in Japan, the other two... well...

So far I've had to cast a red ball out lens for a vintage Sankyo because noone had one... and then crafted a cam for the payout timing motor on a 99 Daichi using an acrylic plastic disk from Tap Plastics and a Dremel (so far so good!).

Casting the lens has been a challenge. The result is passable but nowhere near the original. Basically using a silicon mold kit and epoxy resin. I think polyester resin would work better...
    Woof!

Are these parts that fail very often? I'd be curious to see pictures, or better yet the old parts.

Not many if any parts fail on a mechanical vintage pachinko under normal use. There's just not much stress going on. Any repair is usually just various adjustments and once things are set, it'll stay that way. Parts are broken during storage, neglect, and moving them around.
Vintages with electric shooters are a different story and I'd guess the shooter mech can pose problems.

Do you mean a router for wood? Or is this like a 3D printer you need to find work for? Guess, I'm confused...

For me the hardest part to find and the most broken is the Sankyo ball tray, I have look in to a local company for injection molding and I can get them cast for $6 each but tooling the mold cost $10,000 "but that a one time charge".

It's a CNC (computer controlled) router. It can be used on wood, but I use it to cut/etch acrylic and make PC boards.

Is that one of the trays on the front, or the jackpot tray in the back?

    I know the pain.

That is why I forked up the money and made a silicon mold for casting my own trays (yeah it wasn't cheap. Cost me around $100.) I modified a Daiichi back tray to make it a universal off brand tray. (Meaning it will fit most machines that aren't a nishijin)

Though it takes a lot of work to make one because we kinda messed up the bottom half of the mold so there is a lot of flash which means a lot of sanding. I hope to make a few more and sell them.

    100 machines and counting...

I am trying to do that, can you post pic of your mold? I am thinking it would need to be a three part mold. What type of silicon did you use? The silicon I use to make molds for my smaller parts cost too much to make a large mold out of.

    Sure.

    007.jpg008.jpg012.jpg015.jpg

We still use silicon rubber. It works best (well at least when you make the mold right.) We got away from companies like Alumalite & Smooth-on and went with a company that is more local (though they ship it to us). Make silicone molds,Silicone Mold Making Rubber, RTV Molding Rubber We used the AM125 to make this mold. It is great stuff and it is cheaper than other companies. When we run out of all our Alumalite stuff were will only be buying from these guys. (shipping isn't that bad either, but then again it is coming from San Diego)

There are many different variations of reward hopper - anyone in particular you are looking for or just any old one to try and reproduce one from?

thats an odd tray with the 3/4 inch bump out.. i forget what brand pachinko its for but it wont work on most machines

if your planing on makeing a generic hopper make sure its zero clearance... if someone needed a bump out like that one they could fer it out the 3/4's of an inch (18mm for ya none usa peeps)

How to make a generic ball tray from 1/8" plexiglass: Find a shop around town that sells 1/8" plexiglass, ask if you can buy their drop or scrap (what is leftover after cutting up the big sheets.) It comes with a paper or plastic cover on it (don't remove it). Print all 5 sheets of this file on legal paper, http://home.windstream.net/cardwwi/Ball%20tray.pdf Spray a good spray adhesive on the paper covering the plexiglass and stick the paper to it. Then cut it out, I use a bandsaw but I think you can use a jigsaw. The bottom tray piece may need a heat gun to bend a little to help channel the balls. Then peel the paper off and just glue together. It makes 4 trays.

No. It is facing the right way. The tray is off a Heiwa model B I believe. But you are correct in saying that the bump out on it is a bad idea for a universal tray.
