Hey folks,

Times can really make a guy feel bad. You all are talking about something I am virtually ignorant. When someone talks about animation, the first thought to my mind is Walt Disney. I have seen something on the Action channel that I now suspect would be Anime. It is some kind of martial art animation series that I thought was for young kids. The little bit I saw did not appeal to me and my old ideas, but, then again, Bambi and Snow White never really appealed to me even when I was very young.

Now Pachi Addict asks if Anime was invented by Tokie Owen. Are you guys trying to push me over the edge? What or who is Tokie Owen!? I guess I am about ready to go to the old folks home and sit on the porch and drool.

Don't feel bad about not knowing alot aobut Anime. And without realizing it you brought up a very good point, when one thinks of animation you are supposed to think of Disney and american cartooning. Anime is a stylized type of cartooning from Japan. Usually dubbed so noone realizes where it cam from originally, most likely the martial arts one you saw was anime. It is getting more and more popualr here in the States with the younger kids ndue to Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball, Transormers, and nunerous others

Hey folks,

OK, I now know what Anime is, and I thank you all for dragging me into this new world, but I still do not know what Tokie Owens is. Pachi Addict asked if Anime was invented by Tokie Owen, and now I notice several members have Tokie Owens under their names on posts.

What in the world is Tokie Owens? I tried spelling it backwards, but that did not make sense, and forget it if it is an anagram. My brain was not made to do those things. Now I know I am not the only old person on this forum, and I am probably not the oldest. So how do all you other old folks keep up with this esoteric stuff?

I know about Princess Summerfallwinterspring, Commander Cody, Joe McCarthy, Elvis Presley, and Rocky Marciano, but not Tokie Owens. Put me out of my misery, who is Tokie Owens?

I was in the same boat with you David. I had no idea when it first came up what it meant either. Never heard it before. So I had it explained to me. I guess my brain didn't register it well enough as it had to be explained again.

You have one of two options at this point.

A) Do a search of the topic and see if you can find anything on it.
B) Ask Don Mowery as it was his saying brought to life. If he wants to go through it all again, that's up to him. I would not want to steal his thunder!
