Default My new Sammy Computer/Coin-Operated Pachinko

On Monday, I picked up my newest toy, a vintage Sammy Computer/Coin-Operated Pachinko. I know that Card Shark has one just like it...his is in better condition. It was sold to me as "non-operational", however, when it is plugged in, the top left light comes on, the point counter light comes on (can't see it from the picture I took), and the Tilt light comes on. I am taking a bit of a leap here by thinking that the reason it doesn't work is that it has been tilted...thus the light...and that once it is reset, it will hopefully work just fine. I took several pictures, but many of them are too large for download here. I will try again, and post more later.

PROBLEM: The machine came without a key and the machine is sealed tight. The only thing I know to do is to drill the lock...hopefully, someone here has a better idea. I haven't had a chance yet to try to pick the lock, and I'll be honest...I don't know the first thing about picking locks...or drilling through them either for that matter.

PROBLEM #2: The "Pachinko" sign has been badly damaged. Does anyone here have a parts machine that has such a sign?

I look forward to getting into this machine to see if it actually works. I'm also looking forward to shining it up. I'm a big fan of the shark feature...I have a Nishijin B machine with the same shark feature.

The Sammy Computer Pachinko machine I bought in August was also missing the key. The seller showed that it could be opened with a pair of needle nose pliers by grabbing the post in the center of the keyhole and turning it. Not the best method, but it is the only way I can open mine right now.

As for the Pachinko sign at the top, I was also looking for a replacement, as mine was broken at some point then poorly glued back together. Mopar has a parts machine, but that part was already gone.

I thought i had a Computer pachinko pic or two.. but none saved..

i would cut a hole in the back to get it open.. something big enought to get a screw driver in to flip the lock

I bought my Mills slot machine, Jackpot ! knowing that it was locked with no key. The night before purchase, I watched many YouTube videos on lock picking. After I got it home, I made a simple "rake" tool out of a paper clip. DSCF7120.jpg The small hump in the paper clip presses against the tumblers, then you rake it in and out while using the small screwdriver in the bottom of the slot to apply tension on the cylinder. As you rake the pins, the tension (in direction of opening lock) will hold them up when set. It all of less than 30 minutes to get it open. I then was able to take the lock to get a key made. It is worth watching some videos, and some time...what have you got to lose!

IF that doesn't work, or you don't like those methods, a drill (with bit matched to the centre post width)
through the dead middle of any tubular lock like this,
all the way through, will usually do the trick.
There is always another machine around the corner...

My machine has a small hole in the side that I am able to reach my finger in and open the machine. I do plan to remove the lock and either de-pin it or have a key made. I have a local locksmith who was able to make a key for my Spin Luck for about $30.

My machine does not have such a hole, and I am reluctant to try to replicate it...I'll screw the machine up for sure. My initial plan is to try to pick the lock. If that doesn't bear fruit, more drastic measures will be taken...

Mine already had the hole when I received it. Once I have the lock taken care of I intend to make the hole go away. Good luck with the lock picking. I would be hesitant to drill out the lock personally.

Actually, the back of the machine is nailed up pretty tight...not sure that it could be removed and replaced without damage. Also, if I understand pictures that Card Shark sent me of the inside of his machine, I think that there are some components that are attached to the back panel on the inside. Even if I were to remove the back panel, I'm not sure that it wouldn't do damage to said components.

    Card Shark, do you agree?

Cardshark... ya might post a pic showing measurmentsto the exact location of said hole... drilling a hole in the same place should be easy enought

you might have advice to move the hole up or down.. as i rember its a bit hard to use??

Looking inside it is the only spot that would work. I have no trouble opening the machine with it although I guess it could be difficult for smaller hands.

Was out running Saturday errands, and I stopped by a Locksmith shop...the guy there said that he wouldn't pick the lock (or couldn't...not sure), but that he would drill through the lock for $25. He said that I probably shouldn't try it myself as I might tear up the tumblers and screw it up worse. I'm headed back to the garage to see if I can pick it. Don't want to drill holes in any part of the machine if I can avoid it...

    Stay tuned...

Doesn't look like a very complicated lock. I am sure with some patience you should be able to pick it.

    Good Luck
