It appears to me that the button has come off of a ON/OFF switch, that has been added to one of the legs of the power cord.

I've pointed out, what I believe to be the switch, in one of your pictures, (a red circle).

So, (WITH THE POWER OFF), I would cut the wires at the switch and remove it, then connect the wires. You don't need a switch there. You can just plug your machine into a power strip, with a ON/OFF switch, and turn your machine on and off from it. That's what most members do.

I'm SO excited that I came to this website, and have great news to report.

But first, thank you to tommy4132, cardshark, alphaminor, hanabi and especially moparformance and Wayne-Ooo (I think I got everyone)!! I'm so greatful that you were all here. I took a "stab in the dark" and googled "Patchinki forum" and found all of you. Who would know that I'd find the forum, join the group, post a question, and actually get an answer that worked? All in one day??

So, thanks to Moparformance to posting my pictures, and to Wayne-Ooo for the FIX!!!

My boyfriend and I decided to give this a try. Now mind you - neither one of us have ever tinkered with ANY sort of wiring, but I remember watching my dad splice together two wires, so figured 'why not'?

We followed Wayne's instructions to the letter, cut the wires connected to the broken, useless piece, put the wires back together, closed it, plugged it in, and VIOLA! IT WORKED!!! We could not have been more surprised! (And proud of ourselves!!) hehe.

Just can't thank you enough for the quick and accurate advice. Great website!!

Now I want to find a cheaper version of a real quarter slot machine. Any suggestions - Chicago Illinois here.

    Thanks again everyone - Jill

Looking at the photo of the power supply where the main cord goes to the transformer, I thought it was a splice point wrapped in electrical tape. But looking closer it looks threaded, the button that was found might be a switch to control power to the transformer. If this is the case the switch would need to be replaced or bypassed.

    and Welcome to Pachitalk!

That's the Game Room. It's a 20'x20' room I built onto the pole barn/garage. It's separate from the house, about 30 steps away. Makes a good "get-a-way spot".

Congratulations on getting the machine up and running. As for finding another machine, Craigslist is a great way to find something local. You can always use eBay but expect to pay a little more and then of course there is the shipping to deal with.

Cool room. Where do you get all of your slot machines? Have you ever converted a Pachinko machine to accept quarters? I've read about it, and some say to just leave it alone, it's too much to deal with.

I'm sorry but 'PachiTalk' as a site / Forum does not recommend nor discuss the converting of Pachislo machines to take 'currency'

We are pretty easy-going and have very few rules here, but that is the main one, mainly because it is illegal in some States and we strive to promote these amazing Japanese machines as a hobby

And I think most members would say that these machines run best on tokens

As Card Shark mentioned, your local Craigslist is the way to go. Most all of my machines came from a Craigslist listing. But if there is something newer or you just need to have, going thru a dealer is your way to go. I've gotten a couple of machines thru dealers.

Here's some places to check out.

    custompachislo.com
FIVE BROTHERS TRADING COMPANY, INC. | We are the premier supplier of Pachinko and Pachislo machines and accessories directly from Japan and we are confident that we can fulfill all of your Pachinko and Pachislo needs.
Slot Machines for sale, Pachislo, buy slot machine, Pachislo Slot Machine, Wholesale Slot Machines , Pachinko, Tokens, Stealth Home Amusement

As Hanabi mentioned, conversion is not discussed. I've purchased several that had been converted, off of Craigslist, and converted them back to accept tokens only.

When I got my first machine I thought it would be "Cool" to have it take Quarters, just like going to the Casino, so I converted it. "Wrong!!!" It lasted about a week. You will find out that these machines are not like the machines you play in a Casino. The "Game Play" and "Pay Out Structure" are completely different. Most machines, in a Bonus Round, you will win somewhere between 300-400 coins. You may also win 2-3 Bonus Rounds in a row, that's getting you up to 900-1200 coins. That's not even counting any "Mini-Games" that most machines have. So, it is possible, for some of your friends to come over and "take you" for $400+. "That's not my idea of fun".

These machines were designed to accept tokens and to have fun with. It's best, in my opinion, to just keep them that way. Just enjoy the machine for what it is. If you are wanting a machine that takes Quarters, then I'd get a machine that was designed for it.

Thanks again for your comments on my Game Room. The Wife and I, are very proud of it and enjoy playing all of the machines.

It looks like an on off switch to the transformer .Trace where the wires go, from power cord to transformer. If they go from power cord to transformer you can replace the switch with a toggle switch and place it where the other switch was and your set.

I agree completely with Wayne and Mopar. There is no need to convert these machines. They are fun just the way they are and no sense tying up real currency in the machines. Besides it is mostly my wife and I playing them. I would just be putting the money back in the hopper.
