Default I have a machine that I have no idea of it's name

I just got this machine from a friend who says that he hit a big jackpot and the machine
    never worked again...
It was showing an e4 error ram error .. I finially got that to reset
cleaned it top to bottom lubed coin mech and the hopper
I can do a hard reset.. and save the odds and it's ready to play
I can drop coins in and hear and see them register... I can also cash out
and it drops all the tokens in the tray.. but I can't get the
joystick to roll the reels.. or the bet button to light up...
    any ideas Roger

    Hi There

I know you have done a reset, but here is a link to the reset & odds setting instructions, as it also has info on the 2 switches usually located on the power supply

    error help!!!

It could be that your machine is set to require a 'reset after a bonus' and I believe for home use it's better to be in the 'off' positon. It's possible this is why the machine went into error after the original bonus?

I will try and see if I can identify your model for you, but hard to see the manufacturer from the pics, is there a manufacturers name on the front somewhere?

In the meantime, Welcome to PachiTalk

The name of your machine is Sumo. Made by Heiwa in 2000.

I'd agree with Mopar, you have a bad connection or possible a stuck button. Also there is a red reset button on the door, try pushing it.

Here is some information on Olympia/Heiwa machines.

Wayne thank you for idenifing my machine atleast I know the name now...
I took your advise and i reset all the cable connections still no dice...
But one thing I noticed at on the top board in the back of the machine
i see a RED light when ever I press the joystick or any of the stop buttons
or the bid max... still however no light when I touch the bid button...
the cancel button refunds any coins that are in play... I have looked over every inch
of the machine looking for any thing unusual.. I removed the hopper and got the E4 error back again and did a hard reset
and got rid of that... loaded it with about 25 coins and started all over again.
when I power up the fouth reel rolls and that's about it.

Still looking for a idea... anything you or anyone on this board can suggest I will do..

I have done a hard reset... cleaned and lubed moving parts like the hopper and the coin
mech according to everything I have read. The coin mech is working properly, the hopper is working
I can drop token in the machine and they register on the credit meter. I can change the odds.

I can cash out and the hopper returns

coins... The lights light have several bulbs out.. now replaced

I can see the max bid button light a light on the mother circuit board, along with the stop buttons and the joystick...
made sure no buttons were sticking. I plugged and re-plugged all the cables to the circuit boards to make sure
    all connection are working...

when I power up the machine the fourth reel rolls all the reel lights are lit.

I just can’t spins the reels with the joystick... could it be the joystick.. it seems to be making connection however turning on
the red led on the mother board.?

please any ideas I am stuck Roger

    Sounds like your stop board.

If you are getting led's to light up on the mother board when you push buttons and pull down on the spin lever, that's telling us that everything is working as it should.

There is a 1amp fuse in it, check to make sure it hasn't blown.

I pulled the reels out yesterday and checked the fuse and it look good.. however it could be blown
and not look like it... I think I will change that out and see with a new fuse if that fixes the problem

    Thanks again Wayne

Wayne, I pulled the fuse and changed it out still nothing... Do you think I need to change out the stop board it's self?
I was really hoping it was the fuse... and I guess I will keep trying.. Roger

Well, you say all connections are good to the mother board. In other words, you push a button or spin lever it lights a led on the mother board. If this is correct then we know every signal is making it the mother board.

If the fuse is good in the stop board, then you have a bad connection from the mother board to the stop board, (maybe that wiring harness has a bad wire in it),
or the stop board is bad.

You can post some pictures of your stop board and maybe someone can help with getting you new one.

Ok, that's great, you have a newer style stopboard. (those are easier to find)

Chris has some for sale on PachiParts. $10 + $5.50 shipping.

I'am not guaranteeing this will solve your problem, but it's worth a shot.

Here's the link. PachiParts Item 172823325 - Newer Style Stop Board

checked all the cables again new stop board where do I find the opt sensors for the reels?
maybe that's the problem... everything is normal no errors but the reels just won't spin
they move freely by hand... and light up

Here's a currrent update of my progress or lack there of
I have checked and all the buttons are working properly they all light on the mother board
I have synced the reel so they light on the mother board and the fourth reel light an led on the
seperate board on the left wall left of the reels. I have checked the cable that leads from the mother board to the front door
all pins on both ends of the cable seem to be bright and shiny.. making good connection.. I have wiggled both slightly to she if
I can sense any wire in the cable not making good contact.. everything seems good... I just can't get the max bid button or the spin lever to work.. they work normally on the mother board and the spin lever returns to normal position when I let go. Could the only possible fix be to replace the main 50 pin cable that runs from the mother board to board on the front door... I am totally out of ideas...Inside the left of reels board.jpgMother board-all reels light the sensors.jpg2012-12-08 12.34.09 (Medium).jpg2012-12-08 12.34.36 (Medium).jpg2012-12-08 12.34.43 (Medium).jpg2012-12-08 12.34.56 (Medium).jpg2012-12-08 12.37.11 (Medium).jpgThis board might have a connection problem.jpg

    on the mother board

    led #1 Middle Reel
    led #2 Right Reel
    led #3 Right Stop
    led #4 Left Reel
    led #5 Left Stop
    led #6 Middle Stop
    led #7 ?
    Led #8 Spin Lever
    Led #9 ?
    Led #10 Max Bet
    Led #11 ?

Bonus Reel #4 Appears on the board on the left side wall
    with the constant green led

I can only suppose that the bet button and the cash out button are #7 & #9 because they don't light anything on the
    motherboard...

Does this give anybody any ideas... the cash out button works to cash out the credits...
but the bet button does nothing... could my problem be the bet button... I have examined it front the top out side and
it seems to go down and comes back up on it own.. so to the untrained eye it looks like it is operating but it does not
light and led... which I would assume that it should as does everything else on the outside... now how and the heck do you get
this button out...it is located right behind a cabinet structure...I can barely get one finger behind this structure.
