    I would love to find a nice single ball machine someday. Haven't seen any come up for sale locally though.

    In the older machines, the jackpot seesaw was not designed to handle more than one ball at a time, meaning if you got two or more jackpots in a row, the seesaw could only "process" one ball at a time. The other won balls would be diverted into a holding area (small slanted window in upper center of pic #4, to the left of the ball entry hole) until the player moved them into the jackpot seesaw for "processing". The little lever you mention is the lever that the player uses to move the waiting 'won' balls into the jackpot seesaw.

    In later Nishijin machines with the same won ball reserve design, the lever was plastic and was usually located in the panel just above the ball entry hole.
