Question Need a new website host - anyone got a USA based recommendation?

I've been with Kwikhosting.com for many years and their service has been second to none, BUT, my pachinko database is now pushing the 1GB mark and if I ask for any more space with them, they are going to whack me US$130 a year for hosting.

To be honest: their competitors in this area have rapidly surpassed them and offer 150GB storage for about 10% of the charge. So I'm a bit tempted to switch.

However, I'm not going to leave 99.95% uptime and instant support unless I'm pushed.

Anyone got a story that'll swing me?

I would stick to your host with the service being that good. I for one really love your site. It is an amazing resource that continues to get better and better. I would certainly be willing to kick in a little bit to help you absorb the additional costs.

I use godaddy.com for my websites. The prices are very reasonable to me, and their 24 hour customer support is second to none!!

I have used godaddy in the past. Never had any problems with them as well.

i've used godaddy in the past for my personal hosting..

one of the key things about economical hosts is that you are on shared servers (shared hosting)
this could be fine if you are on a server that has low bandwidth neighbours.. but if not.. you are in trouble..

i've also used dream host which i was very happy with.. you may want to do a search for dreamhost coupons.. this hosting company comes out with a number of really great deals.. and discounts..

but if you are happy with your host it may be worth staying with them... because moving servers is a pain.. and you dont know what your going to get...

    Good Luck

Just got my space tripled... same price, but I'm happy with that.

The Host admits their Plans are behind the time, and happy to keep me happy.

So - now I can upload a few of those Frame Manuals I've been wanting to host for people here.

I have some of the Sanyo manuals and a Heiwa on the way Can email them to you if you want. I'd have to scan them all first

Yes - let me know when you're done and I'll get you to drop them in Dropbox so I can pick up the scans.

Email will blow my box up...

Dropbox (.com) is a web-based cloud storage - free.

You sign up and setup a directory to drop your files into - then I come along from the other side of the world and pick them up of your shared Public directory.

    easy-peasy.

I use Dropbox daily. I store all of my important documents and files there and can access them from any computer, iPad or Smartphone anytime I need to. I have private folders for personal stuff, and public folders that allow me to share with others anywhere in the world. Cloud storage is so cool!
