    $25 each is not a bad deal.

    That's not a bad deal. Those old machines are pretty solid.

    As long as they're complete you can make them work. Just take detailed photos of the back, disassemble, clean and lube, then reassemble using your photos. I do that fairly often and have about a 98% success rate. Usually if I can't get one to work it's because someone else tried to fix it and lost or broke something.

    The only thing to keep in mind is the resale value. Most old machines have a fairly low resale value even working (about $80 - $100). With that being said; it really only a good deal if you plan to keep them.

    He only caveat I would add to what you said is that you should never apply any "lube" to these machines. They were designed to work for years without an wet or dry lubrication.
