omg I think I broke it D: I went to try plugging it in and turning it on, saw a spark and the fuse blew out. I'm kind of scared to try it again, and if it's broken, I think I'll just cry because I don't think these are easy to fix ;^; help? Did I need some kind of adapter/converter? ._.

Did you use the 100V - 24V transformer?

I believe the machine is designed to run 24V. I think your current in Canada is the same as here in the United States. That would mean needing a transformer to step down to 24V. Hopefully the fuse blowing prevented any damage. These machines are built tough.

Hmm... reading back in the thread... and looking at the video... did you end up ordering it with a transformer in it or not? It doesn't really look like there's one inside the unit as far as I can see in the video.

Back in the first post you asked did you need a transformer, I said yes, but be cheaper to buy in Canada then buy in Japan and pay the extra heavier shipping,.
Did you get one? If not its probably put to much voltage. As above, If lucky, its just blown a fuse. These glass fuses can put on a nice light show when they blow. I had one destory its mounting points when it went. (Not on a slot machine though)

It sorta smelled like burned plastic after I unplugged it so I dunno, I think I killed it, which would be a tragic $300 down the drain if so, unless the power supply can be replaced. Do they have a standard power supply, like computers? o.O

I still don't know what kind of transformer to use, I didn't get one with the machine in the auction because it probably wouldn't have worked in Canada anyways :/

I found this place online: American And European Japanese_Converters | Voltageconverters.Ca
    But again, I'm not sure which one I need ._.; Any help would be appreciated ^^;
I dunno if that one linked in my earlier quote is what I need or not, I don't usually deal with foreign electronics ._.; *edit* or something like that, dunno what's up with that website, seems they're sold or something

Definitely find a transformer. They shouldn't be too expensive. Do not plug the machine back in until you have the transformer and replaced the fuse. Don't give up on the machine. You have a lot of great people here to help.

That's the problem, I don't know what kind I need; there's a whole bunch that can "step down" the power, but they all output different wattages. How do I know which one will be enough for the pachislo to work? Can that info be found on the machine somewhere?

Okay, thanks! ...and now I'm pissed that I didn't get the transformer with the machine for 2,500yen, everything that I'm finding is at least $70, or only for use with like, laptop and phone chargers :/ Are they usually that expensive? x.x

Also I don't know if this one is too much for what I need or not, it's a "Step-up/Step-Down Voltage Transformer for Japan (1000 Watt Capacity)"

I would think you should be able to find something locally to cut down on shipping costs.

That would be good, but I have no idea where I'd go to find one of these though x.x

Although people do use the 100v ones from Japan. You are safer using a 110v one.

Jessicat - The links you're showing are for step down (from 120 to 100 volts)... the thing you need to remember is that your pachislo runs on ** 24 volts **

That's the pinch here... So all you need is a big old iron core transformer that goes from 110-ish to 24v and is rated around 6A or so... then you bolt that sucker into the bottom of the machine, wire the 110v into your wall plug side, the 24 side into the pachislo. (Correct me if I'm wrong, folks...)

I'm lucky to live in ye-old Sillycon valley, where there are electronic junk/surplus shops scattered here and there. So finding the right transformer isn't too tough. But chances are... if you're in a big city, there may be a place like that nearby you as well... or an electrical supply store that has what you're looking for. Stick your pachislo in the back of your car, grab a six pack of Molson (that's what y'all drink, eh?), and go to the joint with those specs. Buy the transformer and then ply the speckle-faced teenager behind the desk with the beer to patch it in your machine for you.

I'm in Southern Ontario [Toronto]. I have no idea if I should be looking at places like Home Depot or Future Shop @_@

Oh ew, so I'm not looking for an easy transformer to plug in, but a godawful pile of wires to stuff somewhere in the machine itself? That sounds like a disaster in the making, and definitly not my forte ;^; I can't drive, and I'll probably have to pay extra fare to bring it on the bus, so that's out of the question too XD
