Those are cool. Could be fun incorporating them into a machine.

Isn't straight 9V to a standard LED a little high? I think someone said it earlier - you should probably have some resistors wired in there

I have insane grandiose plans to add LEDs to my machine. An Arduino and blinking LEDs is just the beginning. I'm even dreaming up a way to build a digital ball counter. (I'm sure these already exist, but I like doing my own over-engineering.)

Search "Gaku Counter" on this site for some ideas. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Yes you have to have resistors in the circuit. The secret is figuring out how to hide them. What you do is you wire them to one side of the LED so when you put the heat shrink over it you can't find them.

Ha! Perfect. I noted the shrink tube and meant to say something about the nice neat work. Didn't even think of that.

I tend to think in much more complicated terms, like using stripboard or perfboard and ending up with a full wiring harness. This is likely why half my projects never get finished.

Carlw came up with an amazing Counter / Game. I have one on my PowerFlash. Here are some links to check it out...

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...lash-game.html

This second link shows my PowerFlash with the Gaku Counter installed, prior to switching over to Carl's game add on...

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/pach...fications.html

Hopefully this will give you some ideas for your project.

My next plans for this machine are to add a ball lifter and LED lighting. I am very slow to getting around to projects though with the number of hours I work.

Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

On this machine, the center feature blocks ALL light from a center bulb but that is where the OEM bulb was located, in the center. The stock machine would have one bulb in the red area for a low reward tray indicator. On the stock machine, the two yellow lenses on the top of the playfield are dummies (no bulbs)

The goal was to limit the current drawn; then the LEDs would light comfortably off a 9V battery. (20 TOTAL LEDs)

Low Reward Tray LED lights (3):
Connected to the low reward tray microswitch...
Three, diffused, RED LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.

    Jackpot LED lights (17):
ALL of these circuits are connected to the jackpot leaf switch...
Three, diffused, RED LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.
Three, diffused, ORANGE LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.
Three, diffused, YELLOW LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.
Two, diffused, YELLOW LEDs (in series) after a 250 ohm resistor.
Two, diffused, GREEN LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.
One, diffused, GREEN LED / One, diffused, BLUE LED (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.
Two, diffused, BLUE LEDs (in series) after a 150 ohm resistor.

Looks good to me. Think you got enough of them things in there?

There is only one word of caution that I have for anyone who may try to duplicate your work. On one leg, third from the left, you have two different colors fed by one resistor. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as both LED's work in the same current range.

Assuming 2 volt drop per LED, it looks like you're running about 20 ma to the reds and yellows, and 30 ma to the blues and greens.

As long as you know the specs on your parts going in, you should be as successful as Carl.

I know it's kinda late, and would cause you some rewiring, but I think I can come up with a simple circuit that would light them in sequence, starting with the blue up to the red, when you hit a jackpot.

Bet the guy that designed the thing only wished he could make it look that good.

    Great idea! I'm in!

Check out post 31 in this thread... That was using an arduino but I like the idea of a separate real circuit.

Smile SANYO Derby Gate LED Rings

    This was fun.

The machine arrived with one low reward switch and no other wiring or power blocks.

I've always liked Derby Gate Machines!

Wanted this one to have a project box.

Unfortunately, the video really doesn't do this machine justice; this machine looks really great in person.
