Default New guy here... What did I buy?

Hey all, new to the forum, and totally new to pachinko machines. But I do already have two modern Pachislo machines.
I just bought this machine today not knowing if it works, complete, and not having a clue about anything about the machine.

All I can see is the badge that says "Fuji" other than that, no idea about the rest.
It has a home made cabinet and wat looks to be a home made power cord attached to it.
I'm afraid to plug it in because I have no idea of its condition.
There is no key to it and I think the shooter mechanism is broken because it spins too freely in my opinion.

Here is a picture of the machine:

My new project, Japanese Pachinko by ChrisR18t, on Flickr

And a picture of the back for reference.

There is a lot of dust and cobwebs on the inside of the machine so I will give it a good clean before anything else.

Anyways, could some of you shed some more info on this machine.
Did I make a good buy?

I can take more pictures if needed.

    first off

    Welcome to Pachitalk

what ya have is a modern pachinko machine i would guess late 90's era.. someone better then me will probably give ya a better date..

I dont see any reason to not plug it in and give it a whirlllllll..

take a look at the power cord and make sure there are no frayed wires and then give it a try... did ya get a Pachinko balls with it?? its going to need at least a thousand to play nice.. 250 or so just to see if it will even work..

good luck and plese feel free to ask any questions.. (there is no such thing as a stupid question)

    Hello and welcome!!!

The name of the machine you have is printed neatly there on the back, in Japanese language, in large white writing : "CR JAMAICA" (the CR stands for Card Redader, and Jamaica of course refers to the country). If is made by a Japanese manufacturer named FUJI (shoji)

Your machine is a modern kenrimono pachinko machine - for full details on all the flavours a 'modern' pachinko machine comes in, have a read of this: pachimono machines (my site)

A fun way to get an introduction. If you need help playing it, once it's up and running, check this guide : http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/mode...lay-guide.html It's for a different machine, but the playfield dynamics and techniques are the same.

    Welcome again!

    Hi there

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

Great looking pachinko, don't recall seeing that model before,

but looks like candyflip got you sorted with identification and a 'how to' so you can see how to play this particular type of gameplay (kenrimono)

Congrats on your first pachinko, and Welcome to PachiTalk!!

Thanks for all the welcomes, and thanks to "candyflip" for helping me figure out what machine I have!
And yes the machine came with balls, I haven't counted all of them, but there is probably around 500 or so. very dusty, some with rust so they will get a good cleaning before going into the machine.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I haven't had much time with the machine, but I did plug it in and well, nothing.
I guess its time to go through all the electronics to figure out what is wrong and how to get it to work again.

This is not a stupid question. Did you find an on/off switch on any of the circuit boards. Check the wiring around the transformer to the machine. Also check for fuses and make sure they are ok. Basic tests include testing the shooter and dropping a ball in the start pocket/centre pocket to see what happens.

I will do exactly that! I'm still doing just the cleaning of all the dust off of the exterior parts, haven't taken any of the covers yet to get into the inner parts of the machine. I'm going to make sure the machine is cleaned thoroughly before dropping balls into it.

Well, this was a good afternoon. I started cleaning out the machine and checked most of the wiring and connectors. I also had to clean out the massive spider nest from the main board and plugged er' in and it turned on! I dropped a few balls in and they fired up into the play field perfectly.

Now for a question, anyone with this type of machine, can you tell me how many lights are supposed to be on and how many things are supposed to be moving on the play field? It looks like some lights and movements on my machine are not working. Also I do not know whether or not the sound works.

Well, time for another update, the machine is fairly clean now and plays somewhat well. The new problem is that it will not pay out any balls even if landing in the jackpot holes. Also the little LCD screen and the two buttons by the top ball tray do not work at all, and I do not know what their function is.

The buttons and the led display will only work if you plug a daverob dongle in it. It fools the machine into thinking its back in the parlour and connected to the credit system. They are a must if you intend to seal in a cabinet.

See daverobs website for info Pachinko Card Reader Emulator Unit by Pinball Dave

    Pachinko Dongle - YouTube

As for balls not paying out. Make sure the balls are reaching the payout motor. Most machines have some sort of stop or gate to prevent balls reaching the motor for servicing and clearing jams. the stop is normally located on the channel going from the ball tank (rear hopper) down to the payout motor on the right hand side. Under or near the top right circuit board. Some look like 2 hinged prongs that block the channel
