    Default hello from Connecticut

    Joe here from Connecticut.

I've always wanted a slot machine since a kid, and at 44 years old I finally got one !!

Last night at an auction I purchase a Eleco Taco slot machine for $100. Got her home and everything seems to work OK. Came with a ton of tokens, and the key to open the door. What is missing is the key used inside the machine to reset the machine and change the odds.

Am I at the right place to discuss my slot machine? What is Pachinko and Pachisto? Are they the same company as Eleco?

If anyone can give me a quick history/rundown of slot machines, I would be forever grateful. Shockingly I'm having a tough time finding much information on my machine.

I'm a member of many other forums for my cars, motorcycles, and home appliances, and everyone is always very helpful and nice. I don't expect this place to be any different.

    great meeting you all !!

    Joe

Welcome to PachiTalk, Joe!! Thanks for joining our forum.

I'm a vintage guy and not well versed in Pachislo machines, so I will let another member address your questions. I just wanted to pop in and welcome you aboard.

hey Jeff, thanks for the intro.

I've already learned something from you, my machine is considered a Pachislo machine? What exactly does that mean?

when you say vintage machines, how old does that mean?

The Pachinko "slot" machines that use tokens are known as Pachislo machines, and the "vintage" machines I referred to are the older, non-electronic Pachinko machines which use steel balls instead of tokens for play. If you look at my avatar on the left, it will give you an idea of what an older "vintage" machine is. (That is a 1953 Hokoku half gauge machine ) Vintage Pachinko machines range from the 1940's through the 1970's, until they were modernized with electronics, video and sounds.

I'm not certain when Pachislo machines were introduced, but I think it was in the late 1980's. I'm sure a Pachislo enthusiast will be along soon to address that question for you.

    Welcome to Pachitalk!

You have definitely found the right place for information and help with your machine. I believe you mentioned that you are missing the inside reset key. It is a very simple procedure to replace the keyed switch with a toggle switch.

Post some pictures of the machine inside and out when you get a chance and feel free to ask anything.

    hi Joe!!

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

Sorry on iPod at moment so will post any links later when I'm back on the computer.

But basically a Pachislo is a term used to describe a Japanese slot machine, they work on tokens

Pachinkos use steel ball very similar to pinball but much smaller, we mostly tend to use the term 'vintage' only in relation to old mechanical Pachinko machines.

The newer flashier mostly electrical pachinkos you would find in Japanese pachinko parlours today, we term as 'modern' pachinko

There are lots of different manufacturers for both Pachislo and pachinko machines

Hope my rambling helps explain a little, but please do post and ask if you have any questions at all or just want to share your thoughts, the members here are very friendly and knowledgeable

been a member for a total of 1 hour and already everyone is very helpful !!

    I'll take pictures right now.

I'm not afraid of performing any type of modification, but I'm also very lazy !! If it's easy buying a key, I'd rather do that. Question is, is it easy to find a key?? LOL

    ahhh, gotcha

Pachinkos are not a brand, but a type of slot machine. Is it pronounced like it is spelled?

    almost!!

PACHISLO is a type of slot machine usually made in Japan for use in Japan, sometimes referred to as 'Pachislot' when in Video game version

PACHINKO is the name for a kind of frantic upright pinball machine

back on computer, so here's a link to a Taco Slot from 2002, not sure if this is your version?

PachiTalk Research Center - Eleco - Taco Slot - PachiTalk

and pronunciation is a matter of opinion around here, I'm from the UK, so I probably pronounce it differently anyway

I do have a question. I'm guessing this is more of a game, than a slot machine? Is there any strategy, like selecting which wheel to stop first? Or is it simply load coins, place bet, spin and stop wheel.

Are there instructions for this? Like how do you get into the bonus rounds, things like that.
