Default Question About New Pachinko Machine Voltage

Yesterday, I received a brand new, never-played, 2006 "Manbo Let's Dance" pachinko machine. There were no instructions, and everything on the machine is written in Japanese. I can't find any information regarding the title on the internet. The first owner took it out of the crate long enough to plug it in, and he said, "It wouldn't start up." I wish he had not applied power. The plug is standard household 120 looking, but I am suspicious. My guess is that I need to buy a transformer, and I was curious if anyone might know what voltage would power the machine? I appreciate collecting and playing pachinko machines a great deal, but this is the first "brand new" one that I have owned. I'm looking forward to the "lights and animation," but asking for help here is the best first step. Thank you.

If it came stock from Japan, DON'T plug it in. It should have a 24 vac transformer rated at 5A or higher.
The Japanese use a plug on their machines that look just like the US mains plug. But theirs is low voltage. Plug it straight in and your blow the machine.

Please supply pics. We love pics plus it helps to identify machines

Thanks, Card Shark. Great idea. I snapped a few pictures with my cell phone, and I have attached them.

hanabi, as you suspected, this is the one recently sold on eBay. Thanks for the links and research. The man I bought it from told me it was made in 2005 or 2006. His girlfriend's husband passed away, and this pachinko machine was new in a crate in his garage. Neither of them seemed to have an idea about pachinko machines.

Drunkenclam, I have not plugged it in yet, although the man that sold it to me claimed he did once. As I said in my first post, it did not fire up for him. Thanks for the warning and the information about the correct voltage. I plan to search for that transformer tomorrow. Do you have a link to a place that you would recommend for buying the transformer?

If its already been plugged in, There is a chance something might have been damaged, Lets hope not. But its a good idea just to inspect all the fuses before turning on. Onlyafter hte power is on, then will you know if anything is damaged.

If you can go for the bigger the better option. If the price difference between 5 and 6 amp aren't that different. Go for the 6 amp one. Mine are running of 10a and 12a transformers. Although I'm going to change the set up and get a 40a PSU to run miltiply machines.

Let's hope the previous owner could read because the power cable is labeled 24 Volts. I can't tell if the power switch is on or off in the picture but it's located at the upper right corner of the lower left circuit board. Let's hope that's all it is or a fuse. Nice looking machine!

Dongle balls let's see if it switches on first

If you are good with a soldering iron you can make your own dongle for a couple of bucks.
But main concern is will it powers up and the previous owner hasn't damaged it.

Smile Re: Question About New Pachinko Machine Voltage

I would hook the transformer 24 volt side to a female plug and plug the 24 volt plug in to make sure its not fried

that would give you the option to return it for a full refund or to file a claim wih ebay "not as advertised"

Ebay, "new" states [New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item ]

For the sake of an inline socket. It would be worthwhile. So you haven't tampered with it. Should the worst happen you should be able to argh your case.

But if you end up keeping it. Then I would remove it to prevent an accident in future.

Drunkenclam, luckydog, Moparformances, and musky, thank you very much for the comments. Obviously, the first owner did not know there was a power switch, so I am encouraged to know that a 24 volt transformer might do the trick. I plan to look into the 6 amp. I'm pleased that the power button was hidden, and I don't believe the owner had a clue, so it looks like he might not have damaged the machine. On Tuesday, I plan to order the transformer. Then, maybe a week later, I can post a working video for you, animated dancing and all. I don't know how many of you have owned a brand new machine before, but again, this is my first brand-new machine, and it is a real pleasure for me. As an example, my last machine, Lord of the Rings, had intermittent issues right out of the box, and so it has been with many of my pachinkos. Maybe that has not been the case for you, and if so, I'm glad. Thanks again for all of your help, and I plan to update when I get the transformer.

I think that if it was switched off, and plugged in...there is a good chance that it may be just a blown fuse! I agree completely with leaving the cord attached until proven good or bad! If non working when received...and advertised as NEW, then a return should be possible! I am skeptical about NEW though. How would it be possible for anyone to get a new machine if they are made for and sold only to parlors? Even if it is nearly new, but advertised as NEW, I think it a great loophole that works in your favor! As far as Prince Harry...admittedly a cheap shot, I was fishing for a groan! I truly have the greatest respect for the man! As Royalty, AND joining the AIR FORCE during time of war...HE IS THE MAN! I don't care what the Royal Family thinks...He has more balls than the rest of them. I pray he does well and remains safe!
