with your simple design if a faster lift is required a second motor could be added with ease

The new motor is pumping out 120 balls a minute at 24VDC Now the major problem left is feeding them ...who knows how to get the balls into a single file line in the tray? How do the orange machines do it

    Thanks

If I remember correctly it is just a uses gravity to feed the balls to a single point in corner of the hopper. I should be moving my machine in the next week or so. When I do I will try to take some good pictures for you. Also, you might try sending a PM to NIT (New In Town). I think he may still have a couple of the orange lifters that are not installed on a machine. He is very knowledgeable on these and can probably provide you with some good pictures as well as advice.

    Best of Luck!!!

Getting the balls in single file is the hardest. You gave to get the gaps and holes just right or balls jam up

i have thought about this a few times.. i always told myself

"self, if i were trying to get balls in a single file i would do it like the top of a pachinko.. or like the ball dump mech on the bottom of a vintage model "A""

easy to do if ya give them space and a flat area to roll out.. but space is always the problem

best way it just find a model A rear top tank and use that, or the steel tube below it.

Seems like you got a good feed setup going there.

Looking good. Have you tried feeding the balls the height they will need to go?

Yes and I can't go too much higher than the top of the machine without the spring ball collapsing under the weight of the stack . That's good because that means I am fighting the minimum amount of resistance on the way up . The motor is running nice and cool.

I was wondering how weight would effect it. Sounds like you are getting really close.

An idea I have been toying with that might help. Using a ratcheted gear instead of the spring loaded ball to prevent the balls from travelling backwards. I hope my description makes sense.

I haven't built a prototype. I had been toying around with several ideas for building a lifter and then was able to purchase one of the orange ones.

One of my ideas used a motor driven piston to push the balls up and I needed an idea to prevent back flow. I hadn't thought of the spring-loaded back flow device you are using.

A ratchet would have less resistance but I think the ball spring is too simple and inexpensive to pass up.

Looking good! I have so many things on my plate...I haven't even tried to design a ball lifter! I have watched others designs though! Yours, and Balldozer show the most promise! Yours is amazingly compact! Good luck with your research!

Now you just need to make a special cam so you can have 2 lifts working off the one motor feeding one machine. That way you can lift twice the amount in the same time.

    100 machines and counting...
