    Default Our Weekend Trip

Well me and my dad just came back from our 4 day trip to Monterey. There we went to the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca Raceway. (aka "Monterey Motorsport Reunion") This year the main focus of the historics was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra. So they had their own class in which 38 cobras partook in. We ended up not having to really pay for anything as we had a friend who was racing in the historics and he got us in for free. And seeing we weren't doing much we decided to take a trip over to Concorso Italiano. Seeing we got in free and there was a shuttle over there for free. All in all we had a great time.

Now Pictures! I took TONS!!! I ended up filling up an 8gb SD card and then some so I have over 3,000 pictures. Though I don't know if all of you would like to look at every one.

Though I thought I'd load most the pics I took from Concorso and upload them Flikr in case anyone wanted to see those. They can be found here.

Anyways I thought I'd post a few about the Historics itself.

1 & 2: The Shelby Cobra Group. Should be 38 cars in total. At the event I think they said there were close to 60 cobras for show + racing.
3: Had to post something for Mopar.
4: The guy in the mustang forgot to slow for the corner and skid across the outside. (Too focused on passing the javelin. )
5 & 6 & 7: Here again guy coming into the upper corner too fast.
8: You know there is something wrong when the pace car spins out. The guys in the pace cars were really moving, I think they had a bet to see who could do the fastest lap.
9: My dad and Me at the top of the corckscrew. Some of the very few "normal" people who got to walk on the track. Though we got to also pick up cones on the main straight. Basically the track guys let us park our motor home next to them so we could be closer to the track seeing we were "part of a crew". (Didn't end up doing much there) So the guys were very nice and one night they had a party and invited us over. And one guy said he had to go out and pick up the cones and asked who wanted to go with. So it was a great time. (other than freezing in the back of his pickup for 2 laps of the track.)

It was loud. I think they were louder than the nascar / stockcar group. Though I don't think they were louder than our 3 mazda boys. When you get these three together it get loud! Not really in terms of noise level but in the pitch as each has 4 rotors in them. They just whine loud. I think these three could be heard over all the cobras.

No because he was probably over at pebble beach. Which we didn't go to as it was $200 per person to get in; and we didn't have a way to get there.
