I came across one of these machines. Sort of remembered this thread.

Hooked up 24V DC to the circuit board. Only one light worked and it turns on and off. When the light is on; a bottom switches will then exercise the electro magnet. I can't figure out the purpose of the magnet though. It does not look like any parts are missing or broken off and the magnet doesn't seem to open the gate.

This machine is missing some of the parts. The see saw was, however, removed to get at the Flicker components...

I was able to replace the wheat bulbs. No soldering required! All four work now...

Figured out a little plastic peg must have broken off the trap door; fashioned a replacement out of a paper clip and epoxied it in place.
The repair needs a lot of testing to see how it holds up; I think it is beautiful myself.

The way it works: There are two bottom pockets that have two lights each. The pockets alternate being illuminated, maybe two seconds, back and forth.

If one gets a pachinko ball in the illuminated WIN pocket- the electro-magnet moves and opens the flicker gate like a fever gate. When a pachinko ball enters the flicker gate, it closes by gravity.

Bad news is I need to use a parts machine to get this one going; it was missing a lot on the back; but the flicker portion was intact.

How awesome to find one of those! Great to hear the "flicker" parts are all intact! Finding a broken Daiichi shouldn't be too hard (not the way you keep finding them), even sacrificing a functional one would be acceptable in this case! Is the center feature filled with LEDs like we were guessing? Probably not, or you would have mentioned it. It probably goes without saying...but I'll say it anyway! You probably should keep this one as original as possible, and not add any additional "flash: to it. But you already knew that!

So all pockets will pay 15, even the flicker pockets. If you land in a flicker pocket it pays 15 balls and opens the trap door. The trap door stays open until a ball falls in, paying 15 balls and closing. I expect the pocket that is part of the trap door has no special function as there are no additional wires attached to it.
I would have thought the door would have had more payout oportunities, like staying open for a set amount of time...giving the possibility of several balls to fall into it. If this is accurate, a lot of extra flash and components for not a lot of extra excitement, or payout. But still a fascinating variation.

    Pachiwall,
I agree with you about keeping it stock or "OEM".

You are correct about the payout opportunities. Probably worse odds than a regular, 5 tulip machine.

The center feature doesn't appear to offer much opportunity to illuminate.

This is the part with the broken plastic post (at least that is my guess). And my "FIX"...

The electronics work for a while then only one side lights up. Let it cool off and it works for a while again. My guess is the thing in the plastic box...
