Thought I’d share my working with the Gaku counter today. I forgot that I got a few from Musky last year and was recently reminded of them. I haven’t created any type of casing for the counter yet but I have ideas!

I started last year with my 2004 Maruhon Woody Woodpecker. The shot sensor was easily placed and concealed at the start of the ball ramp and the wires are threaded through the frame to the backside. I used a small Velcro dot to hold it in place. This was useful for re-positioning to detect every ball shot.

The placement of the win sensor was a challenge as others had found but prior posts were most helpful. (Thank You All ) I don’t have any of the terminal outputs as described in the links below on my early moderns or newer machines. I did find that the CN3 output (I believe on the frame side) will pulse 10 won balls at a time.
    Gaku wins sensor.jpg
The pulse of 10 balls won works as I have matched the win value setting on the Gaku to 10 (see the red DIP switch block in the next picture). Even with the various wins of 3, 5, 15, every time a total of 10 comes up from the pachinko, then the counter adds 10 to the display. Either the pachinko machines or the Gaku counter keeps a memory of the rolling total. So if my wining balls are adding up as 3, 6, 9, 12 (four 3’s in a row) then 10 shows up on the counter and the extra 2 is the start of the next 10 points to show on the counter.

As for my wire connector at the CN3 terminal I modified a connector I found in a box of miscellaneous computer wire sets. These two wires connect to the CN2 input on the Gaku. Of the four wires on the CN2 (Gaku input) I do not use #1 or #2. Wire #3 goes to pin #1 of the CN3 pachinko terminal and wire #4 goes to pin #2.

This same scenario works out with my 2012 Kyoraku Ultraman Taro pachinko and on my Sankyo Lumina frames. I have not hooked up any shot ball sensors on the Lumina frames yet because someday I may try battle counters on them. I currently enjoy using the Daverob card reader and the winnings side of the Gaku on the Lumina frames for my Julie the Pinball and R2D2 Star Wars machines.

Thanks Musky for all of your work and posts!

Using the CN3 terminal is a good way to work around some of the more tricky machines like the ones that use two separate ball tracks.

I do have one left of the batch I bought from Musky years ago. I had it installed in my Woody Woodpecker game and it worked well. I believe I've found all the parts and am open to an offer. Send me a private message and we'll go from there.

I don't know if Musky is still looking in at times but he hasn't posted anything in years now.

    Pete
