Default Garage Sale Find - #7 now in the house - Sanyo Comet II

I found this one via a Craigslist garage sale listing. The garage sale was actually a few weeks ago. It was given to a woman by her grandfather who was into Pachinko machines. She didn't know what to do with it and decided to part with it.

It's a Sanyo Comet II and I don't know what the center feature is about. Based on the tag, it looks to be a 1980 model. The play field looks like it doesn't have any water damage and should clean up really nice.

What intrigued me about the machine is has a over shot ball return. I've only seen this on early vintages. It may be common and I just haven't seen one before.

I will need help on the lights. The connector has four pins and looks like a over sized computer motherboard fan header. I'll post a picture later if needed.

And now, as required by Pachitalk, pictures.

Nice find. Just need to find my sunglasses.

Yeah I would say late 70's probably around 78 or 79.

I would just call the theme stained glass. Not much to it other than a lot of day glow paint and neon colors.

    100 machines and counting...

Nice machine! Looks to be in good condition! The overshot ball return is pretty cool. This machine is earlier than I expected to see one on, I thought that idea came out on Model C machines as a foul ball return. I have only one Model C. Needed one to round out my collection.Mostly model C 043.jpg Overshot balls go thru the orange flapper door, and fall down the perforated yellow channel to the front tray. Your foul ball return is way cooler looking than mine! I,m kind of surprised that they never made (that I know of...) one that made foul balls drain to the back.

Right on 1980 build year. Probably the last of the flipper handles.

Pull out a bulb or two, they usually have the voltage printed or stamped on them!

I pulled the bulbs and there are no markings.

One thing I like about this machine is unscrew all the red knobs and the one blue knob and the whole back comes off as one unit.

It looks to be 10v. I mean if worst comes to worse and 9v volt isn't enough then add 24 and see what happens. So try adding 9v and see how that does. I also have a comet II but have yet to play with mine a ton.

Very odd. But there is the perfect example that showed that they used what ever was laying around.

I've also never seen green SideTross pockets before, always orange.
