I had a little bit of time this morning so I decided to take the top off of the cabinet and see about repairing or replacing the florescent light fixture. I noticed what looks like a factory installed receptical for an incandescent bulb. I'm curious what it's for?

Do any of the other Satomi Computer Pachinko machines have this?

Standard equipment. Not sure if a lamp goes there or if it takes an oddball fluorescent starter.

    Jeff?
I see this game is coin operated. What happens though? If you get to a certain score you get a replay?

Yes, with the coin operated computer pachinko, you get a free replay per 100 points scored.

Drop in a quarter and you get anywhere from 12 to 21 balls, depending on the payout setting. For each jackpot scored you get 4-7 "reward" balls (again, depending on the payout amount the machine is set to), and you get 10 points on the score board. After 10 jackpots (100 points) you get a free replay. You just keep playing until the game ends and you run out of balls and replays. Then you drop in another quarter and the fun starts all over again.

I think these Computer Pachinko machines were popular in restaurant waiting areas, as they were a fairly quick game and made money for the establishment.

I was unable to resurrect the existing florescent light fixture since a prior owner had cut the wiring too short (and the ballast was shot) so I picked up a replacement fixture at Lowes and installed it last night. Mopar was also kind enough to send me a score keeper from a parts machine he had, however the one he sent didn't work, but the face plate around the numbers was in much better condition than the one on my machine so I used it. I have now moved the machine into my basement with my other Pachinkos. The only pending repair items I need to address is to replace two bulbs that are burnt out (TILT light and Jackpot light in upper left of play field), and replace the lock that someone drilled out due to a missing key.

    I'm so excited.

    Looking good Jeff!

What type of lock are you going to replace it with? Actually I should ask what type is in there? Does it look like a factory lock you know like found on the typical nishijin and sankyos and what not; or more like a new barrel lock found at lowes?

It looks like a factory lock to me. I compared it to a Sanyo and Nishijin lock and the backside/housing is similar, but not close enough to swap with. I'm wondering if Satomi used their own type of lock on their machines.

The front of the lock is destroyed beyond use, so I may need to rig something up.

Hmm. Sounds like it. Or you just haven't found a machine with a similar lock. Something tells me that either a Three star or a Mizuho might have the right one. As Three star machines were the base for Satomi. Only reason why I say Mizuho is I know some have a straight lock and it might work.

Good luck. I look forward to whatever you come up with.

OK. I've been tinkering with this machine today, fine tuning it you might say, and I have determined that the "Tilt" mechanism does in fact work, but the "Tilt" light down by the flipper handle does not. When the computer pachinko is in play and I manually trip the Tilt mechanism, I can still flick the balls into play, however I do not get any jackpot payout (I believe that is what it is supposed to do. Perhaps someone with one of these machines can confirm). Even still, the Tilt light will not illuminate. I have checked the wiring and installed a new bulb, but I still get no light.

There were no markings on the bulb I removed, and I was able to get it to illuminate faintly using a 9 volt battery, so I am guessing it may be a 24volt bulb?

Do any members with one of these machines have any suggestions to correct this issue, and/or know what voltage of bulb I should use for the Tilt light? As of this point, it is the only feature on the machine that is not in working order, so I would love to figure out how to make it operational again.

    Thanks in advance!

I know that when the tilt is activated in mine, I can still shoot balls but there is no points awarded and no jackpots paid out. I will try to check my machine to see if I can give you any information on the bulb.

This machine went to a new home today and I believe the new owner will be joining PachiTalk to learn more about it and the two non-working Pachinko machines he already has. Happy to see the community grow.
