Cap'n Stuey has arrived safely in London and is enjoying the British weather

and I have another Medal table update to post for him

This is how the top 5 countries stand this morning:

    medal top 5 mon 6th august.JPG

The USA have dropped slightly into 2nd place, but it is very close between China and the USA and it could change again today

Team GB have once again had a fantastic day, with Andy Murray gaining a gold in the Tennis, and our Cyclists and Rowers doing us proud yet again

and here is the Medal table as it stands this morning, the top 5 positions are unchanged
    :

    Top 5 Medals Tues 7th August.JPG

Team GB added a surprise Gold in the Showjumping event yesterday

and their task today is to try and better their Beijing Gold haul of 19 medals, currently on 18 Gold it could happen today!!

of course China and the USA are still way out in front with their 31 and 29 Golds respectively

Yes, I'm still standing in for Cap'n Stuey and posting the Medal counts on his behalf

I believe he was actually at an event last night, so hopefully he will post and tell us all about it when he gets chance

So here is the Top 5 as it stands this morning:

    Top 5 Medals Weds 8th August.JPG

Team GB have now bettered their Beijing gold tally

And yesterday saw another Gold for an equestrian event, this time the Dressage, which I closely watched on the TV (Hoping to see the Show jumping later)

2 more Golds in the Cycling events too, we seem to be good at cycling, and rowing

If anyone would like to add to this thread, please do so, would be great to see who you're rooting for, and who gained what medals or anything else Olympic related, lets give Stuey something to read when he gets back

and here is this mornings Top 5:

    Top 5 Medals Thurs 9th August 2012.JPG

Sadly team GB failed to gain any medals yesterday, hope we can manage a few more today?

but the USA added ELEVEN more medals, including 4 Gold!!

Top 5 Countries currently in the same positions, but there are only 2 golds between China and the USA, so it could go either way by the close of the Olympics

The U.S. has it locked as there aren't enough medals left that China is in contention for to be able to overtake the lead.

and heading into the final day, here's the top 5:

    Top 5 medal count sunday 12th august.JPG

I was quite pleased to see a young boxer from my old home town bringing home a Gold medal last night!!

They will paint a telephone box GOLD in his honour

Painting the town gold | This is Hull and East Riding

For anyone interested, Hull is the only town that has it's own Telephone System, boxes are usually painted cream, whilst everywhere else is RED, I do have a particular interest in them as i have a few shares in the company, which are pretty much worthless

Talking Re: 2012 Olympics YAY!! (aka Stuey Goes to London!!)

    I'm alive!!

Sorry I couldn't post more while there, the only free wifi at the hotel was in the lobby and it was after midnight most days when I got back to the hotel so I chose the sleep option most days instead of spending lots of time sitting in the lobby at 1am with the cleaning people trying to get the slow internet to work!!

I will blabber on about my trip and post pictures here in time even if I'm the only one thats interested!!

The trip was Super Great, but right now I'm sick!! The good news is that I wasn't sick on the trip..the bad news is I'm sick, weren't you listening??

I got sick on the way back from the airport yesterday..cough cough..So if I had to get a cold I guess it was good timing!!

Maybe I shouldn't have licked those railings in the tube station??

Wow, its taking a long time to read and type.. (This post took over half an hour to type) I guess I'll have to leave it there for now..

Well after I post these of course!!
And here is the last Medal Count of the 2012 Olympics!! In order of most golds won..

And how according to a BBC story I saw the way only the US like to count medals, and how I like to count them too, cuz silver and bronze are also Rad..In total medals!!

And Greece got 2 bronze medals!!

Welcome home Robbie...glad you had a blast. I am very interested to hear about your trip.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Olympics and usually watch them non-stop...without caring too much about any medal counts. I love the individual stories, especially those related to overcoming hardship/adversity or personal failures and having the fortitude to try again. This Olympics had many great interest items and I was brought to tears on several occasions.

I think London hosted a fantastic event and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I'm glad the planners/organizers had the insight to capitalize on England's greatest gift to the world... more far reaching than any political ideology, the MUSIC! The London 2012 Olympics ROCKED!!!

The flight out was great and seeing London at night from the air was pretty awesome!!

And even though I was sitting in the middle of the plane I could still see some cool stuff like the London Eye lit up all purple..

But the Raddest thing was a minute or so later when the plane banked to the right and all of a sudden right out the window was the Olympic Stadium all lit up and full and at around the same time that team GB was winning those three golds in an hour at the stadium!!
