Fabulous Las Vegas machine not crediting from tokens or putting out audio.

Alright, so we are an amusement company that got a couple of pachislo machines, cleaned them up, made sure everything was working. Great. Got them on a display shelf and then the one that I'm referencing in this post sold on ebay. Everything worked on display, boxed it up and shipped it to a locale that cost almost $200 to ship 1-way. Upon arrival for some reason it won't credit when tokens are put in, and there is no sound. I know this isnt much to go on, but our tech's only idea was that maybe he had won without enough coins in the hopper to pay out making the machine glitch, and his advice was to do a reset while enought tokens were in the hopper. The client says that they tried with no avail. any ideas? we cant ship the machine all the way back here and then back again, the profit margin for this machine was already small, so $400 in shipping fees would definitely take this transaction far in the red

My first thought is that a connection or two has worked themselves loose during shipping. I would suggest that they open the machine and carefully check all of the connections.

I can't speak to the "carefully" or my own consideration of "thoroughly" but the client says he has checked the connections. This brings up another point, I have already had the client search the machine for damages durring shipping as well, he says all the connections seem good and that there is no apparent damage (and there shouldn't be either, i packaged the crap out of it)

which includes setting the odds, so that they can try that, it also makes reference to 2 switches which may be on your Pachislo, one relates to requiring a reset after a bonus, which could have happened with your machine?? Both of these switches should be in the 'off' position, so you may need to check that too

Sorry not sure about the audio problem, but I'd try the proper reset first and check those switches to rule those out and then proceed to check all connections in case something worked loose in shipping

A lot of times in those custom machines the audio is disabled. The audio is synced to the video and since the video is removed the audio wouldn't make much sense.

It could be that tha payout button has been pushed in and changed to token only and no credits will add up.As far as audio maybe the speaker wires have worked loose.

just wondering, when you say everything was working, did you have audio then??

or has there never been any sound??

If there has never been any sound then member Chrisdice suggestion it's a custom machine and the video and / or sound is no longer there / disabled sounds the answer.

But if it had sound when you tested it, then something must have become disconnected??

a pic of the actual pachislo would be really helpful to determine what machine it started off as

Just in case you missed some of the "code words"... "started out as...and custom", or the whole video screen thing. To our knowledge, there is no Fabulous Las Vegas title. That machine in the pic is a Sammy brand. The score area may give some clues to its history.single ball spiderman 047.jpg I don't have a closeup pic of the display...but Spiderman 2 has unique symbols at the top display and unique symbols on the reels. Your customers machine may have unique symbols that someone would recognize. As you can see, There is a large video screen om S2. Your machine probably had a bad screen, so they put a large decal on the front and use the small display at top.single ball spiderman 048.jpg Credits & wins show in lower corners of display. It is as if they planned for "what if?". OR, designed it to fail. Either way...Was a brilliant move! I agree with the 2 switches thing...I can't find a close up pic of my power supply. I can take one later if needed. I also have the generic operators manual. It is not useful...there is better info here than in that booklet!

If the machine is close to the one you show ,it was the devil may cry machine .The video screen has been diconnected and a graphic has been overlaid to hide it. So there is a good chance the audio has been cut off too.

Is it possible to remove the decal, and get these screens working again?

I guess it depends why they disconnected it to begin with. I would expect something broken. From the inside picture...it looks like the video screen is still there. Is anything unplugged...or tampered with? Also, is the decal on the outside of the glass, or under the glass?

I have seen some machines where they change the belly glass to Harley or budwiser... I bet it is easier to resell these rethemed machines to some americans then an anime theme...I have a feeling they just disconnect the quirky features then sell them as Vegas machines...I'd like to tinker with one of these machines sometime

Once the older basic machines started to get harder to get, this model became popular for customizing by importers.. And sometimes the screen still works and is just covered up, and sometimes stuff was removed..

If I remember correctly some people had problems with the screens on the original games, so I'm guessing maybe importers were left with lots of this type that they couldn't sell because of bad or possibly bad screens and thats why this one became popular for them to use as customs..

I went back and looked at the video showing it working, now just realizing it didnt ever have sound, So I was guessing you guys are correct in that it was modified. So I showed the video to a tech I had consulted, (and had worked on shopping the machine) and he confirmed, the machine didnt have audio and was supposed to be that way.
