Default Help with weak shooter on a 1970 Nishijin Model A

    Hi!

    I have a 1970 Nishijin Model A Pachinko machine that has a semi-weak shooter.
I just looked at a video to see how this one person ended up restoring his machine. I noticed that my shooter is much weaker then the one he has.

How do I make mine more "responsive"?

The balls shoot fine with power, but I can not go from one to the next to the next to the next and so on. I have to pause for a second before I shoot again. I'm assuming it has to do with the time the ball rolls down into the area where it is ready to be launched.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks a bunch!!

    Mike

The picture below shows the part that needs to be cleaned. This moves on a brass pin. If you remove this and clean and polish the pin with brass cleaner you should find it loads the balls much quicker.

If I am understanding correctly, it sounds like your trouble is with the balls loading to the shooter and your shooter is working fine. I have only fixed up one vintage, so I am no expert. I would start by making sure the track and balls are clean. I had a similar problem on my machine and found what looked like dryer lint on the track.

cleaning the tracks and polishing the pic will help.. but keep in mind the speed these machiens shoot is regulated.. X number of balls per minute.. and i have my own machines that are faster and slower in comparison to each other

Yes, I agree with the others.

My "A" started misfiring a couple weeks back. I'd obtain a nice even flipping rhythm of balls onto the playfield but every once in a while one would miss. The problem grew progressively worse until I actually had a jam just as the balls entered the regulator Tommy pictured in the "U-turn" area of that lever.

A quick investigation shows sticky dirt accumulation in the pathway. Cleaning solved the issue.

The other thing you should do is turn your machine around and find the shooter spring. You will see a plate with some holes in it at the end of the spring. Adjust the hole being used to adjust tension on the shooter.

Hey, thank you to you all for responding and giving me possibilities on why the balls do not set into position fast enough. I took the "shooting area" apart, cleaned the pieces up, and after everything was back in order...I saw awesomeness!!!

Now, I need to solder a wire that I just broke on the back!!

Thanks again!!! You all were very helpful!!

    Best Regards,
    Mike
