Default Help to ID my new machine?

    Hello,

This is my first post and my first pachinko machine.
Can anyone ID this machine? And tell me a little bit about it?
It does need quite a bit of restoration though
I can go get better photos if needed.

    Thank you!

    to Pachitalk!

What you have there is a Daiichi Idol machine. Build year should be 1977.(not 100% sure on the year) But that is where the sticker come in. How old is my Pachinko Machine? This tells you about it.

If you have any further questions just ask. And once again welcome to PT.

    Thanks guys!!
Of course the seller didn't have the key for it. So I might drill out the lock.

I don't have a Daiichi machine, so I can't show what the back should look like. But unfortunately it is missing a cover that contains the balls as they roll about, can be made of plexiglass. It is also missing some levers that control ball flow. Maybe another member has a pic so you can see what you need. Better still, if someone has a parts machine to help you with the parts you need.

Yep your missing quite a few parts from the back. Build year does look to be 77. As for the lock it is un needed unless your want to put it in a cabinet. And even then you won't need to drill it as they come out fairly simplle.

I have been very fortunate and found a locksmith that charges around $30 to make a key for my machines missing them. I just remove the lock and drop it off with him.

Even the puzzel key locks? If he can do those I might send you a few locks to give him.

Not sure what the puzzle key lock is. So far he done two keys for me, they were both the cylinder style key. Send me a picture and I will show it to him. I still have a couple of keys for him to make myself.

Sorry yes it is the cylinder style locks. Some are really difficult to figure out. I think there was one lock I ran into that just seemed to be really, really odd.

When I took my first cylinder lock to the guy. I was told he was going to order a new lock and key. Price was very reasonable. When I came in to pick it up, there was a different guy there. He said he picked the lock and then made a key for it. The key he made works great. I still have a couple of mre to take by to him.

Argh, I figured it was missing a number of parts. But since it's my first pachinko machine, I wasn't sure what.
I hope I can find a good photo of the back of a complete machine to show me what's missing.

Are there any recommended web sites that sell replacement parts I need?

I just parted out a Daiichi machine. I might have most of the parts you need the only difference is mine is orange. I will go look and see what I have and I will try to get a good look at the picture and see if I have them. If I do I will PM you and I can send them to you.

Parts can be tough to come by. My suggestion would be to start a new thread listing what you need with pictures. You will not find a more helpful group of people. Hopefully the right person will see your thread. Best of Luck!!!

There really aren't any replacement parts. And the 77 build year is kinda hard to find as there were few of them imported.

This is the only other Daiichi Idol machine that I know of at the moment.
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...ver-issue.html

(I have seen others but forgot where.)

And this machine is kinda special as it shared no parts with earlier or later machines.

Some parts you may be make yourself. There are some very knowledgeable members here who may be able to offer suggestions.

    About locks and locksmiths:
I used to restore used vending machines in a large shop back in the 1970's-80's. They used to come in from seemingly everywhere and anyone. There was no rhyme or reason, no pattern to the lock other than barrel. I drilled out a few myself.
But the shop had a "master key ring". It was a huge ring about a foot diameter with maybe 500 or so barrel style keys on it. Each was stamped with a number. If we got a machine in without a key, there was a pretty good chance one of the keys would fit a particular machine. We didn't have a way to cut a new key so once the old lock was open we just replaced it with a new one one of ours. A future vender would usually replace it again with one of his own. If a machine came in with a key we didn't have, it got added to the ring.

I am thinking that maybe some of these locksmiths have a master key ring of his own? Just a guess.
