Default New to Pachinko and liking it!

I am brand new to the world of Pachinko. I found this one at a local garage sale (first one I'd ever seen) and thought it was very cool the moment I laid eyes on it. The owner said it worked..although, I have to admit I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how. I have been searching online trying to figure out what model it is (without luck) to see if it is all there or not and instructions/service manual, etc. I found this site and figured this was a great place to learn about my machine and the world of Pachinko. Anyway, hello to everyone! I'm excited to be here!

    WELCOME!

I know ZERO about vintages, so will be no help.

But someone will be along shortly.

    Enjoy.
There is always another machine around the corner...

Welcome to PachiTalk!! You most certainly have come to the right place to get information about your machine. You have a 1970's era Nishijin Sophia that we have referred to here as the "Chevy Bow Tie" machine since it has a Chevy Bow Tie emblem at the top right of the center feature. There really isn't any rhyme or reason to many of the machines that were mass produced during the 70's, so we are forced guess at the titles or make them up if the theme is not blatantly obvious. As for manuals, they simply don't exist. This site is the BEST place to learn everything you need/want to know about your machine.

I restored a machine nearly identical to yours last year, and verified that it was built in 1977.

Based on your pictures, it appears that your machine is complete and should work, however you will need a minimum of 500 Pachinko balls to get it working. I personally recommend 1,000 for playing enjoyment. You can find balls on eBay in various quantities and prices. If you can get them for .04 to .05 cents each after shipping, then you got a good deal.

The machine is designed to shut off when the top rear ball hopper is empty, so you will need to make sure that you have plenty of balls loaded in there before attempting to play it. You will also need to make sure that the jackpot seesaw is in the correct position. Here is a link to a video that one of our members created that will probably address many of your questions:

Model "B" how to - YouTube

Watch the video and post back with any questions you might have. We are a very friendly and helpful bunch and will do everything we can to help you get your machine up and running quickly.

Again, welcome to our online community. Please visit us daily and post often.

Thank you to everyone! I am getting ready to start playing with it. I came with a lot of balls, so I think I'm good there. I also watched a youtube video on how to add power to it...if anyone has any suggestions on that...I would love to hear them.

I always use a 9 volt battery. The lights really don't use much power at all. You could also use an old power supply from a calculator or something similar (known here as a 'wall wart'). Just make sure the power output is 9 or 10 volts, as the bulbs are in that range.

Here is another thread that has a lot of good info on wiring and powering the lights: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/pach...-nishijin.html

    : to Pachitalk!

You have a nice looking Nishijin Model B "Chevy" machine there. I disagree with Jeff. This machine is about a 1972. As it is way more basic than the machines built in 73. And super basic compared to the 77 machines.

If you have any questions just ask. And once again welcome to PT.

If you fully subscribe to the theory that the expiration stickers are an accurate representation of manufacture date, then I would dispute you since I used an expiration sticker to arrive at the 1977 date on the machine I restored (it's possible that Nishijin had several different models of machines each year that they supplied to parlors based on what the parlor wanted or could afford). It has been debated here in previous posts as to whether the machines are built in a linear fashion and put into production immediately following manufacture, or if some may sit in a warehouse or store room for a period of time (months/years) before they are purchased, stamped and placed into service. If that is the case, then I agree with your assessment.

Either way, we are thrilled to have iraceyou as a new member and welcome his questions about his cool pachinko machine.

Yes. Welcome. Many topics here are still kinda disputed due to unconfirmed information.

mxfaiman nailed the date, it is most assuredly a 1972.

    And WELCOME!
