I think one is a reset button, the other is for the lock.

interesting idea for sure. the man that posted it should have shown a little more ,or / and mentioned what he did, cost, ect. If affordable ,easy installation, ect. might want to do the same.
lots of creative people associated with these machines & this forum.

    Hello,
That's a video of my machine (and I know it's not considered a desireable unit ).

I am thinking about putting together a complete kit so I am very interested in your opinions.

At what price point do you think there might be interest in this in kit form?

    Thanks

Rockston, very imaginative ,very handy person. not sure if I would want it for either of my 2 machines But,I seem to be playing both more often.
for daily players ,it might sell ...But all comes down to cost & "easy" of installation for the average john or jane to put on.
You would have to explain it step by step , specially on the wiring to the unit. many (including me ) not , so hip on electronics , & might be afraid to install them selves.
If the instruction are simple that a monkey can follow it , you might have a seller.
figure out what it cost you in parts , tack on a bit as profit , would it be affordable to "many" ?
great for machines with no key ,or those with a "broken lock".
sell them your self or maybe convince a vendor to buy some from you ,for them to re sell. if they call wanting more , you got a hit.
OR quietly put up a set or 2 on e-ban , (world wide viewing) add a link to your video And see if they sell there.
Can't hurt your pocket book to try to sell a few there ! you already spent the time to do it ,time to make some money.
If YOU don't do it , some else here will figure it out & will sell their own version.

Thank you for your post Jeff, like you mentioned, the hard part with something like this is making it "idiot-proof".I can bring the kit in for less than what I have seen a lock and key going for on e-bay.

In the interest of learning if there are any barriers to installation per manufacturer, I would like to propose the following:

If anyone near Chicago (i'm in wheeling) has a collection of machines I can see, please pm me. If anyone would like this modification for their machine/s and lives near Chicago, I can come over and personally retrofit your machine for $40 a piece + gas, please pm me.

My background is in machinery, engineering and custom cabinetry

    Thanks
    Rock

I recognize the device as a generic door lock actuator. Did you just tap into power coming off of the transformer? What does the red button do? I saw that it lit an LED on one of the circuit boards...but what is its function? I may want to make one to replace this...lock 001.jpglock 002.jpg If I do, I would consider using a magnetic reed switch so there would be no visible switch, just put a strong magnet on the cabinet where the switch is to activate it. This would require a relay because I'm sure the current would burn up the contacts of the reed switch if simply put inline! Nice modification, I like it!

    Thank you both,
I am using the 6 VDC that I found in the hopper plug, so the wires leading to it are easily tapped into in the back without cutting them. The Red button is hooked up to Reset for soft resets, especially after hopper fills. Nothing has been disconnected, so a key (if I had one) would still work as designed. This is now an electro-mechanical slot machine with an electro-mechanical door actuator. I have no need at all for a key now,so I don't have to tie it to the machine or have it sticking out of the lock. No one (as far as I know) is planning on breaking into any of my games to steal tokens anyways!

Understand that I'm not mocking you, it's a great mod, and it really has a nice appearance. The Million God machine is a running joke in this forum. It has a reputation as the most boring machine available. But it's probably undeserved.

I am sure there are hundreds of other titles with less features that are even more boring. Did I mention that it came with $7 worth of quarters inside and an autostop too? I practically got it for free, it was owned by a wealthy family and cleaned weekly by a maid.

I'll sell it to you for $150 LOL!

Thanks. I've already had the pleasure of owning that machine. And you're right, many are worse.

Of course, many are much, much better as well. Hence, the reason I sold it.

Let me know if you decide to put a kit together for this mod. Also one that would work on a Pachinko would be of interest to me as well.
