Default Matrix pachinko over heating transformer?

Hi everyone i got my matrix machine today and played for about 30 min and then smelled a burning smell. The machine just shut off then i smelled the transformer and that was it. Anyone ever have this problem? Also it came with volume controls pre installed, but full blast it isnt really loud like it should be. I had the sound problem like this on my star wars when I installed volume controls on it but I had crossed a couple of wires and after I switched those it worked fine. Could someone have done this on my matrix causing my amp to short causing the transformer to over heat? Possibly wrong amperage transformer to begin with? I know it should be 110v to 24v output. Does 4,5, or 9amp matter for this machine?

    Thanks for any help.

When it comes to transformers, bigger is better. My 2009 sea story is rated at 200va or 8.3A I'm pretty sure the matrix will be the same or maybe higher. I don't have the spec for it. I use 12A transformers on my machines. They never get warm

Sorry, I don't know about US suppliers, either someone else will reply, or do a search online, I wouldn't use a 4 or 5A one, but 9A or higher

Awassig, This transformer will work for you. It's from a member here, Gaku.

The best are STILL the PowerVolt ones with thermal protection etc. Its just that we need a group buy for them They are really pricey unless there is a group buy...
If anybody is up for a group buy I am MOST definitely interested... From what I can see with Amperage draw 4-5 amps will work ANY current machine. The higher the amperage
the cooler it will run... I am sure DaveRob would have the MOST definitive information.

I have the manuals to 3 modern machines, The 2 Sanyo are rated at 200va (8.3A) and Maison Ikkoku is rated at 150va (6.25A) These are the manafacture spec. I wouldn't risk running anything less than this as the results could be disasterous. As I don't have a manual for matrix I wouldn't know the exact Current draw, But if its processor heavy that requires 3 fans I'm sure it will need quite a high current

Interesting way to find one! I checked the one I have, I had to dig out the ol' flash light and look hard.
The Transformer I have on mine is an 8.3amp according to the sticker... My Cutie Honey uses a PowerVolt 8amp too...

Ok Guys got my 9amp transformer from Gaku and installed it in my Matrix machine. Game plays great. One problem though I turned the machine off and it sat for about 3 hours. I felt the transformer with the machine off and it is really warm almost to hot to touch for any length of time. I know power still goes to the transformer while plugged in but without a load from the machine not being on should it really get hot at all? I plan on mounting this machine in a wall cabinet but dont want to end up burning my house down in the process. Any ideas please let me know and matrix owners have you noticed this?

    Thanks!

I am NOT sure it will help you but I will tell you what I do for ALL my machines. I have them all go into a separate outlet or outlets ALL controlled by one power switch.
That way I can leave all the machines turned on and switch them all off at the outlet. IF you do not want to do that you will need a power bar that lets you turn off one machine at a time
while its plugged into the outlet. In a nut shell you want NO power going to the transformer when the machine is turned off. This is what I think AND do and I am pretty sure most do.

Anybody can feel free to add or correct this thinking.

Any time power is left on the transformer will get hot no matter what machine it is.I wire in a shut off switch to my transformers in my machines, that way I know the transformer is dead when the switch is off.NO FIRES.

I use this small switch on all my machines and i place it in the lower left corner and its wired in before the transformer so when its off, everything's off. I like the convenience of only powering up one at a time and being able to do it at the machine.

I hook my Matrix machine to a power strip and shut it off from there. You do not want any power going to the transformer when not in use. You may not burn your house down by leaving it on but you will shorten the life of your transformer.
