    Smile Vintage Pachinko Competitive Games?

Assuming there is a counter (like Gaku's counter) with a timer, a shot sensor and a win sensor:

What vintage pachinko games would be fun to play in a multi-player environment?

    Here are my two ideas:
One minute game - time limit is one minute to score as many points (pachinko balls won) as possible. The counter would keep track of the time limit and start the clock on the first shot and stop counting after one minute.

Fifty shot game - no time limit to score as many points (pachinko balls won) as possible. The counter would keep track of the number of shots and start the scoring on the first shot and stop counting after fifty shots.

I was thinking of limiting the number of players to four, similar to a pinball game... makes writing the code slightly easier... was going to put the entire program on an Arduino type board with a 4x4 matrix keypad and a 4 line LCD display.

Well if you could find an Arepachi it would work well for a multi-player environment. Hard to find but not impossible

    Lt Teddy,
I have not come across one to date. Nor have I ever played one.

What would the game be? Whomever can arrange the balls, in the fastest time, wins?

sounds to me like you need a computer Pachinko..

    Parts Computer Pachinko (1).jpg

25 cents gets ya a pre dertimaned amout of balls (owner can adjust the amount)

geting balls into the pockets wins ya more balls to shoot.. ball that are losers are lost..

    high score wins

next best thing to an Arrangeball Machine

An actual arepachi (pays in balls) would work well. If you go with an arrangeball then the rules could be that each player gets a set number of tokens and who ends up with the most tokens, wins. If the AB had a bonus mode would make things more interesting and open up new strategies.

I do think the computer games are fun! But there really is no score keeping for more than one player at a time, right?
This is a good idea for a game though, a high score game with the caveat that a player starts with a certain number of pachinko balls and when the amount of pachinko balls gets to zero the game is over.

Interesting! I did not know there was a difference between arrange ball and arepachi. And now I know!

I took my vintage pachi to work for a contest and have been doing it every year.

I simply connected a pedometer to the jackpot switch (instead of the light) and used it to count jackpots. I then gave each player 500 spheres and 5 minutes. If they ran out of spheres before the 5 minutes was up, that was the end. Otherwise, they have to stop at 5 minutes. I just used a timer (with alarm) to track time. Players were allowed to play once a day and the contest lasted over 30 days. The person with the most jackpots won the contest. I also kept track of averages, etc.

I'm sure it's not as cool as having a automated or otherwise computer controlled interface but the simplicity still made it fun, which was the whole point.

How many players were involved and what statistics did you maintain?

You are certainly correct, the idea is to have fun!

There was a discussion awhile back about arrange balls and arepachis and the consensus was as described above. I've seen the word "arepachi" on ball payout machines before but have never seen it on the arrangeball machines. like other things in this hobby, it's hard to find definitive info and there are always exceptions but I go by what I've observed and what others much more in-the-know than myself say.

I couldn't find the last contest results but attached is a spreadsheet screen grab from the previous year. The top row (missing) contained the player names.

It looks like 12 players, the average would be the number of jackpots divided by the number of times a player made an attempt.

One last question: did YOU win?
