    Default Possible speaker blown?

    I have a 2005 Sammy Choro Q machine.

there are 3 speakers in the machine. two up top (left and right), and one center bottom.

When i first got it, it was really loud, and when there wasnt music playing, i heard this static like noise comeing from the left speaker.

i installed some 1ohm trim pots yesterday on the two up top and it brought the volume down to normal levels.
i didnt do anything to the bottom speaker, because i cant get to the wires.

anyways, now when it plays sounds, i hear alot of crackling in the left speaker, which sounds like its blown.

anyone know what kind of speaker i can use to replace it?
i havent pulled the speaker out to confirm that its blown, but im pretty sure it is.

pictures of the machine can be found here: Help! 2005 Sammy Choro Q machine

if you need a specific pic, let me know and ill upload it.

I bet the trim pot is no good. Uninstall it and see what happens.

Radio Shack has certainly gone down hill. They seem like they are more of a mobile phone store than anything now.

they only had 2, 1 ohm micro trim pots when i went in there on sunday.

i used to go in there all the time for parts for my custom guitar pedals.

They used to be my go to place for anything parts wise on electronics. Now, if you go in and ask for a part the employees haven't a clue what you are talking about.

Take the pot off the left speaker and hear if it still works .trace the wires back to the sound board and see if it has a loose connection at the teminal. Some of these machines do hiss a little do to the coils in the step down transformers. It's like radio interference sometimes.Make sure it has a ground wire to the frame metal, that helps.I had to move a transformer in one of my machines because the sound board was to close to it and was picking up the humming from the feild coils in the transformer.

if i take the pot off, then there will be no sound...unless i connect the wires.

with out the pot, there was some hiss. i cant trace the wires back to the board, with out taking the whole machine apart.
they did a real good job playing tetris with this machine while putting it together.

i bought an 10k ohm pot as a replacement since crap shack didnt have and 1k pots.

not sure if i should put it in or not. its not a HUGE deal, but ill have to test the volume while someone is playing centipede, pinball, and my konami machine all at the same time. lol.
