I think it is homemade. Someone lost the original panel and made their own to replace it.

    100 machines and counting...

    I respectfully disagree.

My Narita has the same stye of front cover with a ball fill hole like the one on this machine, as well as a working fill hole on the wooden frame. I think the mfg was trying a different style on this machine, moving the ball fill hole from the wooden frame over to the left a bit so that players wouldn't need to cross their arms so much while playing. I have seen old videos of players on single ball machines where they feed the balls in rapid succession with their left hand while flipping the flipper in rapid succession with their right hand. When the ball fill hole is located on the right side of the wood frame, then they would need to cross their arms more to feed and shoot rapidly.

After testing this theory on my Narita with a ball fill hole in both locations, it is far more comfortable and easier to use the fill hole in the front panel that the one in the frame.

One other thing I noticed on my Narita is that the ball loads in the shooter a little faster when dropped in the hole on the front panel. When I drop it in the hole on the right side of the frame, the ball has slightly more distance to travel before it reaches the shooter. I'm sure players liked the faster load time the front panel fill hole provided.

    Just my two cents worth.
