    Default I have always regretted...

My first Pachinko machine, I don't remember the model or name, was given to me by my parents when I was 11 (mid-70's) for Christmas. I enjoyed playing it and annoying them at the same time. After awhile, it went to the attic. Six years ago, I remarried and needed to down size so I sold it. I've regretted it ever since.

About two weeks ago, I thought about that old Pachinko machine. I looked on Craigslist to see what I can find. This is what I found:

    Nishijin - 1976? (52-6)

    A week later,

    Sanyo - 1974? (50-12)

    and last night,

    Sankyo -1973? (49-12)

All three have various issues. My step-son asked me why I bought three. I told him you never know if you need parts. In reality, I hope to get them cleaned and working so I can give one to him and the other two to his brothers (my son's).

Anyway, I normally don't talk much in forums but I do appreciate the wealth of information I've read here at Pachitalk and various other sources on the web.

    Thanks,

    Alan

Edit: I thought I removed those side way's photo's. Oh, well.

Welcome to PachiTalk and to the "Dark Side"!! It sounds like you are already hopelessly addicted and well on your way down the path that most all of us have already traveled.

You have three beautiful machines there and the folks on this forum will all gladly help you along as you try to get them working again. There are few Pachinko machines that cannot be fixed, so your chances are very good.

Again, welcome to the forum!! Please visit us daily and post often.

    Welcome!

Wow those are really nice machines there and I'd be proud of any of them.

When I was a teen in the 1970's I had a Gottlieb Target Pool pinball machine that was eventually sold away. It was the right choice for us at the time but now I really really want another Target Pool but can't have one. It's frustrating sometimes.

Target Pool's a good one. My first pin was the AAB version called MiniPool. Loved it but sold it and may end up with a Target Pool one of these days. So why can't ya have one?

    Hi Emmadog.

I'm in the market for a CHEAP EM pinball machine, anything really under $150. Not much to pick from at that price but they do come up from time to time. Chances are a TP won't be in that lot.

One of my inquiries is for a "60's Gottlieb pinball machine in rough shape". They ask $60 with no other description and no photos either. Who knows. No reply yet. I bet their mailbox is full of questions from others too.

Here is me (On the right) in the only pic of my beloved TP:

    Thanks everyone. I appreciate it.

Mopar - I may have made it sound worse than what it is.

The Nishijin is playable but the payout lever sticks. The front face frame is missing screws, one of the pockets has a broken "flipper" (not the tulips) and it's missing the window where the ball tray flag drops.

The Sanyo, which looks the best from the front, is the worst in the back. It's missing the ball tray, the "flippy things" that guides the balls and some covers.

As for the Sankyo, I haven't done a valuation yet. It looks mostly complete.

All in all, I think a thorough cleaning is the major thing that needs to be done to get them playable.

    I have around 1500 balls.

thats a great pic. i am too young to have any great memories of EM pinballs whether in arcades or at convenience stores or any other place they could be found. i didn't really care for the SS ones when they came on the scene. anyway, i do regret not getting involved in these pins sooner. they're amazing machines and for anyone that likes to tinker, then you know it doesn't get any better than an EM pin.
i see cheap ones come up every now and then but are too far or more than i'm willing to drive. maybe look into arcade game auctions, you may be able to find a diamond in the rough.

I decided to work on the Sankyo first. During disassembly of the back, I found this which appears to be broken:

    IMG_3727.jpgIMG_3729.jpg

Does anyone have a picture of what this part is suppose to look like? or the part itself?

    Thanks,

This it not the best picture, but it is all I have. I had to enlarge a pic of the backside of a machine to zoom in on the area.

    Pachi1.jpg

The part that is missing from yours is a wire that sticks out the back of the broken piece on yours (wire not visible in this pic) that will push the long blue plastic piece to the left to shut off the machine. This only occurs when you win so many jackpots that both the upper and lower front trays overfill. It was helpful in parlors to stop the machine so that the players would empty it. I have never seen one of these kick in during home play.

Your machine should play fine without it.

Firstly, welcome to PT, a great forum and tons of information. Folks make it great, and there are plenty here to help.
As for EMs, wow! That photo is a toss back in time, the wall paneling alone is worth the time to look at that game. I have a TP, and the AAB version Mini Pool is considered pretty darn rare these days. TP is one of my fav game, a nearly great game to play when set up right.
I'd start on the Nishijin as it looks to me to be in the best cosmetic condition. Get some new balls, non rusted and clean your game up. Play, and enjoy! WTP, you are amongst friends here.

Love the Nishijin. My stepsister had that exact model. My dad bought us Pachinkos when I was 12 (mine was a shark diver Nishijin 'B' and my step sister's was the first photo you posted).
