Default A question for those who have a lot of Pachislo's

I will be retiring in about 12 years. Me and the Mrs. will be building a new home. I plan to incorporate a home theater with a game room. I plan to have the game room acoustically isolated from the theater to avoid conflict.
I plan to make the visual flow of the room constant, so that everything looks that it belongs right there.

I have a Bellco Automatic pachislo that I really love very much. It's my only Pachislo. That particular machine seems to be very popular and is available from several local sources which sell many different names and styles of pachislo's.

I will be buying another pachislo very soon.

The game room I am planning will have 3-4 pachislo's. Money IS a factor and I don't mind having some good/fun older machines vs newer more expensive ones. I'd rather start collecting the units today so I don't have the expense in later years.
I realize how old machines purchased today will be in 12 years, and that's OK.

I've created a poll for your answers and please elaborate your answers if you feel compelled to do so.

I have four pachislo machines that are older around 2003 2001 and 1999 The machine that is played more is mephisto. My grandkids love it.The next is king pulsar ace edition,a cute fun machine. The flying momonga is the oldest one I have 1999. It is a simple machine but the hardest to win on and I play it alot. The least played machine is called siolar by pioneer, it is an okinawa machine and uses the large tokens. Pioneer made machines are very basic and are on the boring side.Bellco machines like your automatic make pretty good machines. I have heard bingo and super bingo are fun machines. It still gets down to what you like in design and looks of a machine.I do like my pachislo machines they all have different gimicks and music and lighting so they are all fun. That's just my opinion hope it helps .

    Hi Yose.

    Thanks for the reply.
If you planned to build a dedicated game room with theme and mood lighting etc, would you still prefer a variety of games displaying different themes and features or just stick with a same machine you already love playing?

For example my Bellco heavily favors a blue, chrome and red theme. It would be easy to add recessed wall/ceiling rope lighting of red and blue, carpet a shade of red etc.
If I had a number of machines of different themes and colors it would be much harder to make the mood of the room flow properly.

I have some room examples worked out- I'm not much of a decorator to begin with and I think a few of the same machines would be easier to work with. Keeping that in mind, would you personally prefer a variety of machines offering a variety of features with a less "continuous" room or a few of the same models with a better room atmosphere?

This is one design I've been messing with. The game room would be a separately built room with large rubber feet pads and heavy wall insulation to provide acoustic separation from the theater. The theater can be seen through the windows on the right, and the game room seen from the theater. The window would be made with several panes of glass for insulation.

    Here's for dreaming:

I myself prefer a variety of machines, they all seem to have reds and blues in their lighting effects. Painting the machine cabinets to a theme color can change a room flow. multi pattern carpet like casino's use makes a room fun .Mirrors can really really bring a room to life with lighting effects.I think all pachislo machines enhance each other.I think your idea of sound isolation is a great idea.Wall colors can bring a theme to life also. It sounds like a fun project.

I assume that you like it just as you have it and would not change the arrangement if you had the chance.

It's quickly becoming apparent that a variety is definetly the way to go.

    Thank you all.

Variety would be the way i would go.. Im not a Pachislo guy but love pachinko.. there all the same size and same general shape that is going to give ya the contanuity your looking for.. arange the machines by color of case so they flow and look good together... that way you can have the best of both worlds..

having a varity will also keep friends and family interested in playing.. if there all the same ( say SYFY) then someone who dose not like it would be put off if there all the same..

    just my 2 cents

You might be able to get different pachislos that play different, but look similar...if you buy all the same brand. Maybe even the same color lights...probably wouldn't be easy...might pay more than you should, because it "fits the theme". Pachinkos (vintage at least) are all over the place, in colors and design. Unless you stick with Model B Nishijins. I vote for diversity in my gameroom. When I mount my pachinkos, it will be a timeline...oldest at the left, newest at the right.

I'm guessing most people here would like variety over style..but I guess it depends if you want the pachis as a fun part of the game room that you will use often or if you just want more of a cool casino look..more like functional art..

If you want something sort of in between you could, like mentioned above, pick one maker and just get 3-4 games that are different but in the same case..It would give variety of games, while keeping a similar look..of course it limits you by not being able to just get games you want..Plus while a company may use a case for a dozen games that doesn't mean they'd all have made it to the US..or that they are the same color..

One other option that would also give you a little of both is if you just concentrated on color and not style..You could say choose games that were mostly one color..it still limits you but not as much as just one case style, but it still gives you some continuity..

For me I would be buying games I actually wanted no matter what they looked like!!

Even things that look totally different can sometimes look good together if they have something in common, like all my pachinkos look totally different and no two are the same color, but once they were all in the same style cabinets that I made they all look good together..

Interesting responses!! It all seems to land on personal preference. I like the Modern Pachinko and Pachislo machines so I would have all Large video screen machines. I would get certain colors along with themes to make the room feel like everything flowed perfectly. Seeing my three Pachislo's side by side with the three Video Screens just looks sleek and professional. I couldn't imagine having a vintage or earlier model mixed in. It just wouldn't look right, and unfortunately would not get much play. I however do have older and newer model Pachinko machine's. But have already started phasing out the older models to usher in the next gen machines.

We shall see. Who knows my opinion might change over the next few years.

I think seeing as how it's YOUR Games Room, then it must be designed to YOUR own taste, and if you are someone that likes a more ordered look and flow to the room, then go with your instincts.

For me though, It's all about variety, excitement, the overall assault on the senses and the actual playing of the machines, and it wouldn't be a fun gameroom if I had to sit and think about style and colour schemes first before buying any pachi's.

Although I don't currently have a dedicated Games Room myself , it will happen in the future, I just had a set-back for now...

But all my collection will reside within it, and apart from having maybe a themed area for my 'scifi / star wars / robots' and another for 'vintage styles' etc everything will just be a glorious riot of funky pachi colours, whatever combination they may be
