Default 1953 pachinko machine - $550 (overland park, KS)

The seller claims that he "confirmed current value at $400 from pachinkoplanet.com". That seems rather high to me, considering the cell is a bit wrinkled. Also, judging by the mechanics on the back, I tend to think this machine is a bit older that 1953...perhaps 1950 or 51? In any case, it seems to be in pretty good condition overall for its age.

1953 pachinko machine confirmed current value at $400 from pachinko planet .com if fully restored it is worth $4000.00
last checked worked, no balls left asking $550 cash.

You are overpaying for current condition.

In my opinion, $40 would be a steal for that machine. I personally would pay up to $150 for it, since those are the age and type of machine I love and collect.

It proves that a machine is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it.

I agree! Up to about $150 would be my limit as well...a little more if the cell was not needing replacement.

More reasonable but still seems a tad high priced to me. I could see it selling better at $200. Though the guy is dreaming that it is worth $3000 fully restored. $550 would have been fully restored price.

no seller likes price police but it is a great machine. if someone politely negotiates/informs them of the value with work required to get it to the supposed 400 dollar mark, they might just come down on the asking price. some sellers are obviously going to restoration sites and basing their machine's worth off of that without realizing the work required not just in a good refurbishment, but a full restoration.

    Yep.

I just finished a full restoration and 2 refurbishments/restorations. All 3 machines will be listed on a members site for sale. They will be priced high but they are in really nice shape and took many, many hours to get to the sate they are in now.

Some people just don't realize what goes into a full restoration. I'm talking over 40 hours of work with 2 people working on it! It is crazy. And to think that you only make a fraction of your labor back after that. It makes me kinda sad but I love the hobby and it makes me happy to let other people enjoy the really nice machines I put out.

putting quality work into anything no matter what it is, is always admirable. i think part of the issue with commanding a high price for a professionally restored pachinko is that it's still "just" a pachinko machine to the average person regardless of the amount of work involved in a very small, niche market. bargain hunters, tire kickers, and nickel-and-dimers rarely pay what something is worth and frankly are annoying but even people normally willing to spend may pause a bit at those prices. it's just how it is.
up here in the people's republik of portland, i've had a bunch of people play my pinball machines and so the questions inevitably come about price, what i sell them for, and so on. what i paid vs. what i sell them for is sometimes a large difference but once all the hours are figured in, it's no money maker but i never intended it to be. definitely a labor of love.
good luck with your sale. i'll be doing the same to my Nishijin "Super Bang" once the circuit boards get back to me after an assessment/refurbishment.
