Default May I please solicit your opinion

    I found this local listing:

    2 Antique Pachinko Machines

I haven't contacted the seller but $50 apiece seems to me to be a great value, especially if they are in good restorable condition.

If I am correct, they look like the same vintage machines as these: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...tml#post443495

So what do you think? Would you consider this listing if you were me?

    Thanks in advance

They are definitely older, probably 50's machines which alone would make them valuable but it looks like the cell laminate on them seems to be coming apart from the wood. Plus there are no pictures of the mechanics. I would probably consider it since I'm not afraid of cell replacements but its not for everyone. If you get photos of the mechanics and it appears its all there and bring up the condition of the cells you might get the price down a bit.

Thank you all for the replies.

I am getting kinda excited about these two machines and still waiting for a reply from the seller.

Guarded excitement... The CL advertisement is 9 days old.

I would buy them in a heartbeat for that price!! I personally LOVE the older machines where the entire backside is made with tin instead of plastic. The sound of the Pachinko balls running through tin adds to the excitement (IMHO), and the bells also have a different sound.

Even if work is needed, and I would expect some work is required, the price would be impossible for me to pass up.

Please let me express my frustration with "some people" who post items on CL and don't respond to enquiries.

4 days ago I sent information requests on:

    * 7 different vintage pachinko machines from 5 different listings
    * 4 different listings for pachislo's from different parties
    * 2 pinball machines from different people.

No reply from any of them. I understand the items get sold, but at least they should remove the listings.

    AARGH!

Kinda makes you wonder if they are "fishing" to see what price someone is willing to pay and then trying to sell it later for more $.

Happens to me A LOT. People just don't check their emails. And they are too lazy to put a phone # in the ad.

Like I bought a lot from a guy. Sent him 3 emails only got one reply with a price and a few pics. But didn't give me another way to contact him. I put my phone # in every email and he didn't call me at all. Luckily I found his phone # in a different ad he had posted. He picked up and I finally got my machines.

    100 machines and counting...

Ok today is Friday and I received responses.

Geeze one person has two ordinary recyclers and wants $300 each. I have a dirty old broken coffee pot I'd like to get $500 for, and it's only 10 years old.

But I got an email from the two $100 vintage machines and I hope to pick them up tomorrow morning. He says they're complete except one is missing a part on the front. I guess it's the finger post. He says the metal in the back is in good shape.

I hope to also get another Pachislo next week.

I am so crazy excited I can't even sleep.
    Seems like Christmas.

I have posted ads on Craigslist before and was surprised when I didn't get any bites. After a few days I posted another ad with the same result. I figured something was wrong, so I started poking around. I found lots of responses to both ads in my Junk Mail folder - Yahoo decided it was junk for me and put it there.

I would imagine that this happens to some sellers and they really don't know to check their junk mail folders for responses, thus they appear to be deadbeat sellers.

That is why I have an email account specifically for CL posts and I check both the Inbox as well as the Spam folders.
The thing that really tears it is when Yahoo decides my own post are spam and puts those in the Spam folder!
