I use #4 x 3/8 or 1/2. I hardly ever need to use a conical head screw. I use mainly the Pan heads. Some places where the part is really small I just put new staples back in or use even smaller screws (can be hard to find and a waste of time though.)

    100 machines and counting...

well i finished it, but didnt take pictures. once i got into it all slide apart pretty self explanatorily. the ball tray came off, then the track, removed a couple of e clips to disconnect the rods, the whole top half slides off as one piece, remove the staple from the brown piece at the bottom and a couple tacks and the whole bottom slides off. i seriously had it torn down and re-asembled in about 20 minutes. much like my late 70s subaru, i've been impressed by fine japanese engineering.

I couldn't agree more. I think that is what I find the most fascinating about these machines. Be careful, though. Now you are going to want to collect different types so that you can take them apart and see how they work.
