Here's a couple pics of my Nishijin SuperDX - I really love the bamboo stand it's encased in. I've never seen anything like this one. I've ordered 1,000 balls and will be taking the steel wool to the rusty chrome this weekend...

    Nice stand.

Do you have any pics of the back? That is where most your issues will be.

    Hey, thanks.

Ok, here's some pics of the back of the machine. A couple of jam areas and the plunger area but I probably need a shot from the front with the area open to show where the balls aren't getting fed up into the plunger region but are kinda sitting just below the opening to the plunger.

    Well first off.

You need to empty the balls that are stuck at the bottom. Lift up the white tab and they should fall out. Then empty the rest that are in the see-saw.

Also in the last pic. The wire right in the middle on the white plastic part shouldn't be on there just bend it out of the way a little.

It is hard to tell but it looks like you also have a ball stuck under the final payout arm. Only way to get that out is to take off some covers.

Alright, I'll give it a shot later tonight. I think my initial goal should be to try and get all the balls out of the machine then once my new balls arrive I can start over. The machine was transported full of balls, some rusty - so that could explain all these jam ups.

geting the balls out might be a bit hard... i see what looks like a ball under the jackpot arm.. that ball is not allowing the jackpot arm to fall all the way down... tiping the machine on its side a bit may allw that ball to roll to the said and then allow the jack pot arm to fall all the way down... there may be enought room for them to come out but keep in mind.. try not to force anything.. you will run the risk of bending something and then the machine wont work quite right...

take your time im sure ya can get it working again

what ya have is a Model "A" machine.. the vid i posted is for a "B" machine..

    take a look at this..

Great news! All the balls are removed and the various parts that were jammed seemed to be unjammed. Took about a half hour but wasn't too bad, nothing broke during the process - I did have to remove a small plastic cover but the little nail holding it on pulled right out. I also noticed that a small screw was loose that attaches the plastic housing near the front plunger area so I tightened that and maybe that was the source of my problem with the ball not going up into the shooting lane. We'll see once my 1,000 clean balls arrive.

So I bought steel wool, grade #000. Do I dry rub this on to the rusted chrome/metal areas or is water or other cleaning liquid needed?

Congrats on the progress you have made so far!! It sounds like you are well on your way to a complete repair.

Do not use any water with the steel wool - just use it dry and rub the chrome with a fair amount of force in the crusted areas. I would recommend using gloves to protect your hands, and make sure you perform the work outside or in the garage. The steel wool will leave a fine metal dust.

Please post before and after pics when you are done. That is our fee for the advice.

From the pics I posted does know what year my machine is? I'm thinking early 70's. It has a raised number 3 to the right of the lower tray if that helps.

the 3 color sticker in the lower right section of the play field has the best date.. it is the govenment expiration sticker but it wil get us within a year..

post a good pic or tell us what number ya see.. if ya add 25 to the number that will give ya the year..

im guesing its a 49 or a 50... making it a 1974 or 75 expiration sticker.. the assuming it was in the parlor for a few years makes a build date of 72 or 73..

    give or take

I'd say the build date on your machine is 73. I have a few machines like yours and most of them were built in 73.

    To each his own...
I take the frame off and clean in a laundry tub, half full of hot water, with 000 iron wool and dishwashing liquid.
Then just throw the iron wool away. Let air dry on a towel ovenight and clean water spots with window cleaner and a rag.
Re-install with new fasteners, most likely size 4 - 3/4"

Ohhh yeah! My package of 1,000 Pachinko balls arrived on Friday and they loaded in perfectly. I made a slight adjustment to the mechanism that pushes the balls into the shooting lane and now she's working beautifully! Rather than attempt to re-wire the lighting I bought a small LED clamp light and attached it to the back of the machine so it looks pretty sweet even though the lights don't really function as they're supposed to - maybe a future project.

I attempted the steel wool but gave up when I realized I was rubbing off a top layer just to expose a lot of rust. I know this is a bit unorthodox but I then did a quick fix on some unsightly rust by using a silver colored Sharpie marker and it actually doesn't look too bad.

Here's some pics and thanks to everyone who offered advice and info - I really appreciate it!

That is how we all started out. I bought one to give to my son (I had one as a kid and loved it), but it didn't work. So I took it apart and figured it out, and eventually got it working. Next thing I knew, I had 10 of them in the garage and I was still looking for more. Now I buy them on Craigslist, recondition them, and then either sell them to support my toy budget, or I give them to kids (big & small) who show interest in them.

Welcome to what we call "The Pachinko Hobby".
