Default Nishijin Super DX Repair Needed - Detroit

I just picked up a 60's Nishijin Super DX Pachinko machine that needs a little repair. Looking for someone in the Metro-Detroit area.

    Thanks,

I also do repairs, but I am in Denver.

Is there a way we can help you to repair the machine yourself? What exactly is wrong with it?

what Jacks said. don't consider the hassle of shipping until you give the knowledgeable people on the forum a shot. when it comes to these machines and probably yours in particular, there's lots of experience here. post lots of pics of the problem area and a well-detailed description and there's a very good chance it can be resolved.

Thanks for the responses! I'm not so mechanical so I was hoping to get someone in my area to come over and work on it but so far no such luck so maybe I'll post some pics of the problem areas. One of my problems could be rusty balls. When I bought it I didn't know that's a no-no and this thing came with some clean ones and some not so clean. Think I need to order a bunch online - I think I have a Nishijin Super DX, Style B - are those 10 or 12 mm balls?

My initial problem was when you pull the plunger down the ball wouldn't fall into the right spot, would have to go in the back and push it into the plunger area. Then after a couple of shots two areas seems to jam up. I'll post some pics later. One jam is the white solid plastic seesaw is jammed and the other is the balls aren't falling into the payoff slot.

Then I started tinkering with the bulb in the upper left and I must have disconnected something because that now doesn't light up. I was trying to remove the bulb so I could take it and get another for the center light area.

The machine looks great aside from some rust on the metal/chrome frame area but the main reason I got this one is because it is house in it's own sturdy custom bamboo stand so the machine stands about 6 feet tall. Now all I need to do is get it working! Photos coming soon. Thanks all!

I think some new balls would be a good idea.

With a model B machine, you will need a minimum of 400 to get the machine working right, but I recommend 1,000 for continuous play. Make sure you have the top ball hopper on the back filled, because when it gets low the machine is designed to shut off the ball launcher on the front.

As for the balls jammed up in the back, you will need to clear them out to get machine working right. Manually rocking the seesaw to remove them one at a time is your best bet. Sometimes it helps to tip the machine from side to side to get them to flow to the seesaw.

From your description, it sounds like your machine just needs a few simple fixes. I think you will find that with our help, you can get it working again on your own.

Ok thanks - I'll give it a shot. Are the balls standard size with Nishijin machines?

Yes. 11mm I believe. The Pachinko balls listed on eBay should all work just fine. I usually buy mine from a seller named goldenstatetraders1. I always get a good deal and fast delivery.

Depending on the quantity you purchase, you should expect to pay anywhere between .04 to .06 cents per ball after shipping. The more you buy, the cheaper they are.

Welcome to Pachitalk! I have used goldenstatetraders1 through ebay as well and been very happy with them. It really sounds like your issues will be an easy fix and you definitely have the right group of enthusiasts here to help. I would love to see the pictures, the stand sounds very cool.

That is a very kind thought, Mopar. Personally, I'm not offended in the least. In my mind, it doesn't make any sense to incur the cost of shipping the machine for minor issues. Since there isn't anyone local in his area that works on these machines, I personally think it is in his best interest to help with the repairs through this forum. You can't find any better Pachinko support than right here on PachiTalk, and it only costs a few pictures of the machine.

I agree... but its always better to errror on the side of caution... things on boards (even one as nice as ours) can get twisted up way to quick

roger that but any member running one of those doesn't automatically have priority over a non business owner who wants to help and maybe earn a few bucks. it's up to the person seeking services to decide. i don't know, everyone is so thin skinned these days. i think i was born in the wrong decade...

My business model is restoring, not really repairing, so I don't feel slighted in the least when people suggest that they post pics for repair advice. Heck, I am always willing to give advice or suggestions for people to get their machines working. I do see how it is possible for those who primarily do repairs to be concerned about free repair advice though, although I have never heard anyone voice any concerns. But if this forum does not exist for us to help each other out with what we know, what IS it for?

JACKS is spot on. From what I'm understanding you have some simple problems that can start to to be solved by adding at least 400 or 500 CLEAN balls. Reset the seesaw and clear the ball jam and go from there. There is lots of us here that learned what we know about pachinkos from kind knowledgeable people willing to help us out. You should be able to fix your machine with some of our help. Good luck
