Talking Hello. My name is JACKSJE4 and I am a serious Pachinko Addict

Well, I was not in the market for another Pachinko machine, but I think we all know how that story goes...

While scanning the Craigslist ads this morning I found an ad for several vintage machines and Derby King hanemono machine with a ball lifter and nice oak cabinet near my home. The minute I read "Ball lifter" I was instantly interested. So I researched the Derby King machine here on PachiTalk and watched a YouTube video, thinking I could buy the machine, then pull the ball lifter off and sell the machine with the cabinet and make my money back. While I was watching the video, my wife (who is not really into Pachinko at all) heard the music and noise and came over to look. She absolutely loved the machine and encouraged me to go look at it. So I contacted the seller and made an appointment.

When I got there, he had nine machines lined up along the walls of his garage, including the Derby King. I went straight to that machine and we played it and talked about it for a while. Both the machine and ball lifter work like a champ, and the oak cabinet was very nice!! I was sold on it and started negotiating for that machine only. He wanted $200 for the machine and 1,000 balls. I knew that was a deal, but I wanted to haggle a bit (BIG mistake!!). The next thing I know, I had agreed to buy the Derby King, a Model C in a white cabinet, two working vintages in great condition, three parts machines, and about 4,000 new balls, all for $400. I refused to take the two Model A machines he had since I already have too many in my garage at the moment.

Looking back on it now, I came out way on top financially, but I also have SEVEN more Pachinko machines than I needed.

My wife is overjoyed with the Derby King machine (she laughs hysterically while she plays it) and she was very impressed with the quality and condition of the oak cabinet. She has already picked out a spot for it in our basement and has cleaned and polished the cabinet.

The model C is one I looked at late last fall at an estate sale. I bought my Arrange Ball machine, a Diiachi with a ball lifter, and a Minty's Slot Machine from that sale, but passed on the model C because they wanted $100 for it and wouldn't negotiate (Sorry Don, I'm still not ready to sell arrange ball or slot machine yet. ). Well, this guy bought it from the estate sale for $100, then sold it to me today for about $50. I plan to remove it from the cabinet, recondition it, and then resell it.

Two other machines I got are in pretty good condition, complete and can be easily reconditioned and resold. One has an "American Football" center feature that needs some paint touch-ups, but that is a simple task for me. I plan to recondition this one and sell it later in the year once football season begins.

Nice! I knew you would get more if there was a good deal in it for you! Reminds me of the time I got that Lucky Cat for free with a couple vintages one time, and the four I got at a garage sale and ...

The other vintage is a Dragon Fly machine made by Nishijin. Again, this is one I plan to recondition and resell.

The rest are parts machines at best due to the overall condition. There is another Dragon Fly themed machine by Mahuron, a "Goldfinger" machine by Sankyo that is missing the frame, but the cell is in perfect condition, and a "Jaws" machine that is in good condition except for the rusted chrome on the front. I have several spare Nishijin frames in good condition, so I'm going to see if one of them will fit.

I'm sure some will disagree with me on this, but I am out of room in my garage for storing machines. Due to the snow and ice conditions we get here in the Rockies, I MUST be able to fit both of my cars in the garage each night, but now there is only room for one car, and mine seems to be the one that is always left out in the cold.

Anyhow, I am a full fledged Pachi Addict, and it is becoming very obvious that there is no hope for my recovery.

I guess you will have to build a bigger garage or get a bigger house!

At least your addiction looks organized. Great find the ball lifter alone is worth $200.
