    Question Lights

I have a Nishijin Sophia (A?) machine that doesn't light up. I hooked up a 9v battery to one of the wires, and a few lights came on. But that is all. There is a small light in the middle that comes on (I assume) for the jackpot, but it is always on and very faint. There is also a row of lights to the right side, but only 3 of those lights come on. I tried doing a few different things, such as emptying the jackpot hopper and activating a jackpot, but nothing changes. The same lights stay on regardless of what happens. The fuse is good, and the bulbs seem to be okay also. Is there some sort of point in the machine that makes a circuit to the other lights?

    to Pachitalk!

Post some pictures that will help the most.

It sounds like your leaf switch contacts are touching. You basically just need to bend them back so they don't touch in the rest position.

It also sounds like you have a model B not an A. Can you tell me how many bulbs you see in total. That way I'll be able to find you the schematic.

If you have any questions just ask. And once again welcome to PT.

It has a dinner theme with a cool spinning plate with three pockets in the middle. There is a weird set of lights to the side, a reflective looking light that you can push like a button to the top right corner, and the wire that I'm holding in one of the pictures is the one I'm attaching to the battery. There appears to be a spot also for another wire, but no wire is there. I worked on the leaf switches, and it works with the Jackpot. However, nothing changes when the tray is empty. The center light and the side lights light up when you get a jackpot, though. When the center light up, it takes a while to warm up, and even when it is, it is quite dim.

All the lights that are there light up, though. It's interesting... Thank you for the welcome also, I appreciate it

The white string attached to the counter-balance is an unjammer that is set up in the front of the machine.

you shouldn't need that string. If you do something needs to be repaired or cleaned.

    Here is the wiring diagram.

    special-pachinko-diagrams.jpg

you have the 3 light model. You should be connecting the power to the orange and white studs on the fuse block. + and - don't matter where they go. Also what voltage are you feeding through it? The max is 9V. 6v will make them dim though.

Also I'm not sure what you are saying about pushing the lens like a button but you shouldn't be able to do that.

    Any questions just ask.

some one has been adding wires.. the orange wire that runs to the yellow power point should not be there.. ya might have to start from scratch and sort it out

That orange wire is just something I added for experimenting. It's not attached to anything, I had it there for testing. I'll be sure to take it off. I'm using a 9v battery for the power.

The 3 light schematic looks right, but there are only 2 bulbs in my machine, with no indication of spots where there might have been more.

    That is odd.

The 3rd bub should be in the jackpot cover too. Should be a total of 2 bubs in there.

If not just cancel the third bulb out of the schematic.
