Hey their. I am sure you note that it is unplugged from the unit in picture number five. I had this machine and it works just fine. Got mine out of Dallas, Texas. Mopar has it at his place. He should be able to help you. His even has the payout placard in the front. You are missing the coin box but that is no big deal. Just fix up a cardboard box or some thing to put in the slot.

If I remember right this one has a switch to switch between 5 or ten payout.

The payout registers on the lights on the top. The three is for the four center and the two are for the horizontal and the ones are for the vertical. Easily figured out if you manually put the balls in the machine. Good luck.

I think electronically this machine is ok. I was able to get it to pay out moving the linkages and tripping the micro switches manually. Once I get the heavy dirt and grime off of the moving parts, I think things will look better. Might have to change some of the weak springs like the one for linkage to the solenoid for dropping the balls to the shooting tray.Satomi Resto 25.jpg Satomi Resto 26.jpg

    Starting on the front.
Found this sticker under the chrome in the first photo. August 1974. Sound right for this machine?
Hey Don, Dave is helping me out with the game play decal. Going to have one duplicated from his.

That age sounds right and is likely the first year arrange balls were made or close to it. Also lending support that it's probably close to the first year arrange balls were made is the basic, no frills game play. Just the matrix and no bonuses or other features as those came along later. The oldest one I have is a Satomi Buffalo made in June of 1975 and the newest is a Satomi Robots made in April of 1982. Until recently I was under the impression that 1980 was about the last year of production.
As far as cleaning goes its the same as the Taiyo you just did with the addition of alcohol and magic eraser on the blue header plug and blowing out the plug receptacle on the circuit board. Now's a good time to buy a tumbler if you don't already have one for all the metal fasteners, brackets, solenoid plungers, etc. I use mine all the time for my vintage pinballs, guns, shotshell reloading, etc. I go to the nth degree on my restos and a couple things I'd suggest are to sand the cabinet down and seal it with a clear to protect it and keeps the original color. Really adds a classy touch. Another thing is to repaint the lettering on the lower green marquee. To me though that's one of those things that if you can't do it to look like a factory job then I'd leave it alone. At the end of the day all that matters is if it looks good to you but shoddy restos detract from the machine. Keep the updates and pics coming.

Hey John, Yes I have a tumbler. I'll be using it a lot on this one. Most, if not everything has to be pulled off the back. Its thick with dirt. Looks like the parts in the back of the case are all mounted on one assembly and can be pulled out without too much trouble. That should make it easier for cleaning and polishing.

Took the instruction paper for the circuit board out of the case and scanned it. I'll print and laminate it, and put it back when the job is done.

Well I can see the difference. The diagonal pays two and the horizontal and the vertical pay one.

On mine the horizontal pays two and the vertical pay one. Comes out to the same payout.

Mopar, that looks like the placard from ur satomi lion with the pic on the placard, lower right and not for a balloons machine.
The horizontal payout on the lions that pay on the diagonal are 1 and diagonals are 2.

Chipping away at it. A little each night. Have most of the nails polished and starting to put some parts and pieces back on the play field. Cleaning up pretty good. Hope I can say the same about the back, once I get a little deeper into it.

Looks like they have it a wash back in the day. After pulling all those parts off I sand the back of the plywood to remove all the ball track marks, stains, etc. not necessary but looks much better but that's also after removing the front ball tracks and flat retaining wires.

And I thought one of mine was bad with just a little bit of corrosion. Never even had one that was close to that. Nice job on the machine. Now you see why a ball or two was hanging up. You get the corrosion off and it should work like new.

Hey John, yes planning on going all the way with the cleaning of the back. Going to look good. Going to go back to finishing the front. Starting to have too many parts laying around. Might be confusing getting it all back together, even with good photos.
Don, the balls hanging up was on the Taiyo machine. That one was in good shape compared to this one. Should clean up, even if I have to put the bench grinder to it.
