    Default They're Back!

The worlds smallest production cars are Back! (but in limited numbers)

The Peel P50 and the Peel Trident.

    http://www.peelengineering.co.uk/index.php

You can now place an order for one. http://www.peelengineering.co.uk/sto...hp?peelstore=4 There will be built and sold 25 of each car. Unfortunately they are making them electric. (only way to make them street legal in the US.) Which makes the top speed only about 8 mph. But now you get reverse.

    And the price tag is
    Spoiler

Truthfully you'd have to be a die hard collector to buy one.

But yet I'm sure they won't last long.

Golf carts are actually much faster, some can get up to 25mph!
Golf Carts are also known as the "Florida Cruiser"

    Here are some pics
Yes these are Real Golf Carts capable of 25mph!

To me it isn't the same. The peel is special because it is an actual car and the size is what I like most. It is easier to store a peel than a golf cart.

I saw the ep on Top Gear where Clarkson was driving one around. Where I live, you'd be run over in seconds.
Also I doubt it would make it up most of the hills we have around here. Maybe if it was gas powered.
    8 mph is pretty slow.

Travel to Sun City, AZ (Senior capital of the US) just west of NW of Phoenix. You'll see Golf Cars like you've never seen before. They're also allowed on major streets. Some of them are just ATV's with license plates. Its crazy. Sorry, off topic.

It's like that in parts of Tucson as well, especially in Oro Valley and most of the gated communities at the base of the foothills. They even go to the grocery store in their carts.

I saw one of those in person. They look like they would tip over a lot due to high center of gravity.

The weight is down low if you read it does corner like a 911 only better . the price tag is $$$$$$ . The Chevy Cruze Eco is under $ 20 k USD and has a turbo charged 4 cylnder and 6 speed manual

I don't think the Tango would pass US laws to be on the road. It looks like a UK company is taking pre-orders for them.
Looks cool but where I live they'd run you over and not even know they'd hit you.
Far too many HUGE SUV's up here with people driving them who can't see over the steering wheel.

    So it seems.

When I looked at it in person (about a year or 2 ago) they were still working on the steering and the weight issues.

    It does.

In the flyer I have about it is basically says it gets the same rights as a motorcycle does here in CA. The nicest thing is that is allowed to lane split. helps get through rush hour traffic.

Maybe in California but in New Hampshire the cops would write you up for lane sharing.
This looks like an interesting car , but it's electriv nogas option and it is very expensive.
It also doesn't come with a drivetrain or batteries.
For the money if I was going electric I would rather have a Tesla Roadster.
It is a very cool little car, just way too pricey unless you're George Clooney who
    apparantly owns one.

Funny you should say how expensive it is. On the back of the flyer they have a list of qualifications to be the perfect buyer for it.

I'll just give you a few

    • Can afford a second car costing over $120,000
    • Would be comfortable lane splitting. I.e., not shy about passing others that are stuck in traffic
    • Has self-confidence to drive a car that may cause their peers to tease them, however, may also like to blow their minds with the performance
    • Doesn't mind being constantly photographed while driving, or having crowds gather when parked
    • Drives less than 300 miles between charge opportunities

There are a total of 10 things on their list. Those are just a few of the funny ones.

I guess I wouldn't be one of their customers then. I'm too busy saving all I can for an early retirement.
If I had $120K to throw on a car I'd just retire a few years earlier.
