I've been doing a little searching for sounds, particularly the sound a US slot machine makes when it pays out or when a coin is inserted. Not the recording of a machine, but the actual sound the machine plays.

I was thinking about a card reader unit for a pachinko machine with a DaveRob's E-Dongle in it and a very simple coin slot (will accept anything), and using those little thin speakers they have under lcd monitors, have it play a sound when a coin is inserted. Also wondering what other sounds might be cool, as the units don't have to all play the same sound

Sounds like a good idea to me. I remember when I was much younger, a lot of the arcade machines made special sounds when you deposited a quarter or credit. You could set it up so the sound was tied into the them of the machine.

I bought a couple greeting card recorders (small circuit board with battery) to add sounds to my pachi's, but never got around to it.

you can record the sound you want and then play it over and over...
