PachiTalk thats a link to a writeup I did about these machines which are called "arrangeballs" and also "arepachis" but the latter refers to a machine that pays out in balls, not coins. In short, a coin is inserted to start a game and 16 balls (this number can be changed to change the odds) roll into the shooter area. The player does not contact the balls and they fall into various pockets to light up numbers sorta like bingo. winning combos pay out coins. these machines are rare and were only made for a few years. mid 70's to 1980 as far as I can tell. if the link doesn't work click on "community" at top of page then "groups" then "arrangeball owners". then click view all then the pic of machines in a parlor. couldnt get the link to work from my phone.

Well the payouts on my owl machine will pay out sixteen tokens if you hit all of the numbers. Too bad I am not home to check but alot of my arrangeballs either have a switch hidden someplace or even a plug on one machine to change the max payout. I cannot remember on the owl but I think it always has paid sixteen. The lowest paying arrangeball I have had if for ten. If you look long enough you might find a switch on yours. I will look when I get home and try and figure out if mine does it automatically or if I changed it someway. I do have two machines that do pay sixteen. Ten seems to be the average payout and usually all of the ones that only pay five are adjustable. Sorry I cannot be more specific.

    max payouts on my arrangeballs:
    Taiyos:"Magic Neon"-10
    Both "Throttle 2's"-10
    "Paper,Rock,Scissors"-10
    "Big Spin 2"-10
"Mars"-5 or 10, adjustable as well as what combos will score and for how much
Satomis: "Lion"-5 or 10, adjustable but i found the trace on the circuit board to prevent it from paying 15. i made a jumper with clip so now it pays 15.
    "Robots"-15
    "San Diego"-15
    "Buffalo"-15
Kyoraku "Baseball"-5, the baseball scoreboard has 5 separate lights for each run in
Sanyo "Boxers"-5, scoreboard has 5 separate lights for hits. equipped to pay 10 but haven't explored that option yet
    Jan Ball "Blue Dragon"-15

I read the article you wrote that you linked me to, awesome, I have seen many pics of these and heard the term but didnt think anything of it other than seeing the bottom of the playfield was different. Thanks for the information!, would love to find one of these LOL

Is the modern "vicky chance" the same concept?

Can't find anything that looks like a switch or anything that could change the payout. Would think that if there was something, it would probably be on the circuit board with the plug in relays.
Had some water damage in the case, but was able to make a repair, clean it up, and got a coat of varnish on it. Also, did some soldering and dressed up some of the wiring. The tokens in and out counters work. Nice feature. Can keep track of winnings or losses over short or long term.

thanks, that article is just what I've observed and gathered while a collecting these machines. it's very hard to find any " official" info on these machines. not familiar with Vicky chance but modern machines of this type pay out in balls and not coins/tokens and are called arepachis. they're not as fun or attractive as vintage arrangeballs IMO.

looks very nice and clean. sealing the wood gives it that nice, finished look. the vast majority of these machines are lacking the coin counters which is unfortunate. they really are great to have and to show results after nail adjustment. only 4 of my machine's have them-you're lucky to have a set.

Vicky Chance is not an arepachi..Sometimes a modern will have pockets at the bottom for nastagic decoration but they usually don't do anything..The newest arepachis I can think of are the Taiyo Elec ones from around '04..I love mine, super fun!!

Got a cabinet on the Taiyo and found a good place for it, next to my PF's.
Thanks to John and Don for your help on this one.
Going to get started on the Satomi Miracle Arrangeball. Will start a new thread for that one.

Have 2 cutouts on the top of the machine where I can add a couple of lights.
This is the bulb from the low token light.
Anything special I should use for this?
I'm reading 29 VDC for this lighting circuit. My new one will be the same.

I've wondered why lights weren't included on some Taiyos. I think any bulb of the right voltage will be fine. I prefer LEDs either in warm white or the same color as the lens they're shinning through but that's mainly for matrix lights since the originals generate lots of heat.

    Got Lt.'s placard installed permanent.
Printed the photo on glossy paper, then used the placard from the Fuji machine as a template and cut it out with an exacto knife. Mounted it on 1/8 plexi-glass using 3M spray adhesive, that I use for mounting my photos on foam board.
    Looks good. Thanks again Don.

Looks very nice. I only had one taiyo that had the placard and had to make the rest. The colors look like they look nice with the machine. I have had to make my Fuji from scratch and some of my Jan Ball also. If their is anyone else out their that needs a template for one please pm me and I will mail you one or send you a pdf file. The Jan ball machines actually have 17 ball drop spots and really took some fixing to make the template. Thanks to slothappy they came out nice.

I've thought about making repos with casting resin. So far I've made exact clones of pockets and the upper right ball rebound cover. The resin is so good at picking up details that even the faintest scratches in the original part are reproduced. Even the clear/colored lens areas can be duplicated.
