Default best 7 inch tablet right now?

    hey there.

wanted to take a pachi poll and see what people liked these days.

I just about a B&N color nook for $100 with the nytimes subscription. added an N2A card for dual boot into android, and it's a very capable tablet.

thing is, the gfriend likes to read on it, and I like to surf... so if I buy another 7 inch tablet, what are people using?

anyone have the actual B&N tablet, at $250?

there are a bunch of generics out there... are they worth trying for $100?

anyone have the last model of asus transformer? I know that's a different question, as a 10 inch, but I think the full keyboard and conversion to a near netbook is very, very cool. of course the prime is THE tablet to own now, but too pricey for me at this point.

anyone rooted the kindle fire? how is that?

thanks for suggestions. I obviously have been doing a lot of comparison shopping recently...

My wife and I both have iPads. Hers is the iPad 2 which she loves. Mine is the iPad 1 which works but I really do not care for it too much. A friend of mine has the Kindle Fire and absolutely loves it!!! I think the Fire is more reasonably priced as well.

If I purchased a 10" tablet for myself it would be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Asus Transformer. I believe both can be rooted. I'm leaning more toward a 10" netbook if I did decide to get something.

I talked to my friend withe Kindle Fire last night and it sounds like it is truly amazing, especially for the price point.

I did have a Viewsonic Android Gtablet with a 10.1 in screen that I sold, it was a very nice tablet with a dual core processor.

in my house hole we have the Nook color, the Nook tablet and 2 kindle fires. basically the nooks are identical. with the color updat it is the same as the tablet. the fires are very nice also. they all go online the difference being on the nook there is a USB port. comes in handy.! the kindle does not have that.
My decision on which to buy for who was based more on the books/ my 2 college students buy their school books off of Amazon .com. my other daughter and my self buy our books mainly from Barnes and Noble. that was the final decision
either way you cant go wrong

Thx for the input. I am debating about a 2nd fire, a generic $100 android pad or that fruity brand of tablet (given the possibility of work apps coming on that platform)
