the drama of moving it into the house. very heavy particle board base. had a little "incident" up the stairs, but slot and I are fine

I did get the front opened, and I think maybe it just needs to be turned on to work. keeping fingers crossed. can't play until I get some work done today.

it does not have wheels. looks like the windows get illuminated with different fruits based on what the computer decides. more to come...

    hey mopar,

pix 4-6 are the slot laying on its back with the top to the left. these were shot in the car before I got her out.

kinda interesting how the "lens" looking things must be lit up with a projected fruit?

Default updates on the Inder skill stop

updates... way cool on the inside...

I pried open the back after I took the machine off the top, and there is a large circuit board, 2 transformers, fluoresant ballasts, and other things... will check fuses, clean the cobwebs (are those conductive?), put a new power cord (there's a telephone wire gauge right now) and hope for no smoke. the capacitors look a little wrinkled, too, so maybe those overheated?

I found a quarter as late as 2005 and a couple Japanese tokens, so I figure someone used pachislot tokens at some point...

more to come... have to go to work now but no work, no pachi's, right?

p.s. notice there's a little night light with a switch... probably for the poor person stuffed in there fixing her...

more progress. fuses all good. replaced the power cord. found a battery slot on the PC board and a capacitor missing... also a "rechargeable" battery wrapper that looked about AA in size. anyone have any idea what battery, or batteries, I should put in the slot? i'll replace capacitor with the same ceramic ones along that edge of the board.

having fun... thank goodness for our pachi hobby!

    hey there.

anyone know if it's easy to get a tubular key made for a lock? I pulled the one off the back of this skillstop and I'm hoping it's the same as the one on the front of the machine, where the coin box is. if not, or if I can't get a key made, then i'll have to drill it out and put a new latch.

I replaced the missing capacitor, found the spec sheet on the on the logic chip, and need a battery that's about 6 volts to put in the slot. i'm guessing it was a memory battery, so the machine might work without anyway... off to plug in and see... hoping for no smoke...

OK. I had to work 4 shifts in a row in the ED, so my skillstop has been patiently waiting.

I soldered in a 6V battery yesterday and a capacitor.

now, I just need to break into the coin box (maybe drill a door from the back to access the coins), put the chromed machine back on top of the base (which I sorta glued back togther... 30 year old particle board just does not hold up well) and plug and pray...

will be back around 7AM PST, after I get off work. can hardly wait! keep your fingers crossed.

Default first steps... we have lights, but no spins yet

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN4dH...pUR6-8C7_QoHY5

here's the first try... at least it lights and makes noise. have to figure out how to reset and activate spins. very cool the way the "fruits" project.

below is a picture of coin mech. corner. I tried tripping the wire that a coin would strike, and nothing. I tried turning the switch in the back on/off, and nothing. also a picture of the 6V battery I soldered into place.

there is a solenoid on the right side of coin area that is energized, but I think this is the payout mechanism.

any ideas what to do next?

p.s. the video program is one for the iPhone called "video camera" that lets you put together a movie with transitions, titles, music, etc, in minutes.

Hi. Just came from YouTube here to see if you have any photos. Yes. That is a slot for standard mechanical 3,5" coin mech. Very common and quite easy to adjust. Here's some info I found:

Tutorial - Change your coin door to accept tokens | Rotheblog - Arcade Game Blog

Check the door and coin switches and any other too if there are any. Sometimes old micro switches fail and if they are supposed to be closed (or open) all the time. When playing, you can get alarm when the broken one is open when it shouldn't (machine thinks someone is manipulating). Good news is the circuit board is working because it noticed something wrong and plays an alarm sound.

Some progress. Cleaned microswitches and found the one in back not conducting at first. Now, the machine does not wail on startup, and the coin wire beeps. Spins start and u can hear wins, but the front panel is not working yet. Tomorrow I'll look closer for maybe a loose molex.

Eventually, I will need a payout mech. I'm thinking to reverse engineer something like on arepachi's.

Slowly but slowly. At least no smoke yet
