    Default Noob Mounting Question

Hello all, I have recently bought my first pachinko machine, a Godzilla, and finally got my cabinet to put it in. Now, it seems mounting the machine to the cabinet with screws seems the safest way of keeping it in there once it's on the wall, but while the cabinet has pre-drilled holes on each side that I presume are for mounting the machine, the machine has nothing? Am I actually driving the screws into the metal frame of the machine to fix it in place? Or am I missing something obvious? Or is there another, easier way? I'm not going to be swapping this out of the cabinet, so it doesn't need to be easily removable. Thanks!

most pachinko are wood sided.. i have heard.. never seen.. that for a short time they were metal sided..

sheetmetal scres would hold it.. or drill al the way threw and use a bolt and nut...

like ya said your not going to be swaping it out... and if ya were nothing is permanent..

Actually, looking at it again, there are open wood areas on top and I assume on bottom I can use. I had assumed since the sides of the cabinet has pre-drilled holes, that that was where I was supposed to screw it in.

    Welcome Aboard

On mine, I screwed through the wooden frame of my machines in to the cabinet. The frame is slightly smaller than my cabinet so I could place packers inbetween to help level it up.

    Welcome to PachiTalk!

Those screw holes might be for the legs since many legs are side mounted. If they are down low that could be the case.

You might have to drill new holes .If that's the case just putty the other holes in.

I have 3 Kyoraku frames with metal sides and a wood strip on top.
I pre-drill the frame and use wood screws. Works fine with the right size pilot bit. Or you can pre-drill and use sheet metal screws like Mopar said. The reason I use wood screws, is that I use a countersink bit so the beveled headed screws sit flush.

For the metal framed machines, I use self tapping metal screws in pre-drilled holes. With wood framed machines, a good square drive wood screw is sufficiant.

most of my machines were mounted in parlors with nails or staples through the top and bottom of the frame. I mount mine with 2 inch drywall screws, often in the same holes in the frames. I think this is why the metal framed machines have the strip of wood in the top

Two of mine have wood frame inserts all the way around that you can screw into. A different one has wood at the top but pre-drilled holes in the metal bottom of the frame, so it gets screws from the top when mounting, then the door opened and screws from the inside of the pachinko into the base of my cabinet. You can't really see the base holes until you open the pachinko door, which is a little hard to do until after you have the top secured.

When mounting I always remove the game from the frame first. You can then fit the frame, square it and mount it without the extra 50-60 pounds getting in the way of driving screws or swinging there trying to pull everything out of the cabinet while trying to mount it. As soon as the frame is in square and secure you just set the machine on the pins of the hinges and swing it shut. I have mounted nine this way (and 3 moved and remounted) with no issues at all.

I have found that the frames really tend to bend when you open the whole front, unless they are mounted in a cabinet.

Thanks for all the replies. My second, related question: what have you all used to actually mount the cabinet/machine to your walls? I've seen the cabinet bolted directly to the wall, and the use of a board that the cabinet was then somehow affixed to. I've located the studs in my wall, and now am wondering what the sturdiest option is for getting the cabinet up there.

It's easy to do just use a 1x3 cut just short of the inside of the cabinet. Screw the board to the wall studs leveling it, then hang the cabinet on the board and screw the cabinet sides to the board. If you pre drill everything it's easier to mount.
